How did I miss this yesterday???????
Well you said it won’t be long but I didn’t think it would be yet so Bl...y well done you. You get busy in retirement but the big plus is you no longer have to beg for time off, no one to answer to but Shirl and yourself, that’ll be the most freedom you’ve felt since your school days six weeks hols, remember the first day of your six weeks hols? It was such a long hol you just couldn’t believe it, out with the boys all day and getting the belt off yer dad for coming home late evening. Sent to bed with your tummy telling you what a plonker for missing food all day. Yeh!!!! but now you’ll be able to do the same but pop in the pub for your grub. Your gonna love it, just ask me. Lol

One of the blokes from further up the food chain told me a week last Friday that because I had been there for 16 years they could ask me to give 12 weeks notice, I said " Good luck with that Mick!"

@gookah is certainly not any of the above! He's only jealous @t-tony, can't be long before he retires as well. Then he can spend all of his time fixing my zed and not just his weekends.

Retirement is all very well..........but you don't have weekends to look forward to! o_O



Seriously though, it's great, I'm doing so much leisure stuff now that sometimes I look forward to the odd day off when Mrs Bonzo and I are not doing anything, either separately or together, so that we can have a lay in and not do anything in particular.;)

Tony, if you have a branch of the U3A near you, go and check it out. Our local group has over 45 interest groups!

Think about it carefully Tony - 4 weeks working and then 8 weeks on the sick with PTSD from having to do a further 8 weeks. ;)

Not sure it's anything to do with length of service Tony. I think it's what was in your original contract of employment you were (or should have been) given when you started with them.

Any HR people on here?
 
Paid monthly = 1 month notice as far as I'm aware Dave.

Legally its only 1 weeks notice but could be in breach of contract if the original contract (if one exists) states more
 
You do not have to work your notice. If you don't need the money, give them as much notice as they request and don't turn up for work again, or just go sick for the duration of your notice period. They will not pay you though and you have no rights to expect any, but they cannot force you to turn up for work.
If you don't need anything from them, it's down to you whether you do another days work for them. It wont affect your state pension because you haven't reached pensionable age and it won't affect a private pension as it's got nothing to do with them.

I would never leave an employer on bad terms as you never know what the future holds, but it's really your call mate.
 
I do agree Garry it's not a good idea to burn bridges as you can never tell what the future holds. The truth is that of all the places I've worked this would be the 2nd least likely I would return to.
