i already do Tony....my next day off is Saturday...somewhere in 2016.....well i say a day off...i get an early finish....8:30pm instead of 9:00pm.....as long as iv done 5000 jobs that day and the wind is blowing in the right direction with Saturn rising over Aquarius and my boss put his shoes on the right way round that morning ......one can only hope..!!!

Zed i went through a period not many weeks ago of looking at other cars...i even got insurance quotes for a 911 and a Z4M... ..and although they were very nice...i cant see me parting with my M....so as with everything i do...ill do my best to get it perfect...its not going anywhere so why not

Zed iv give up for the time being.....the money is going into the hardtop.. full set of boots for the road stars ....air con needs a new seal and a service 1 is due in the next thousand miles.
other things on the list is to have the rear sub frame bushes replaced with solid ones... H&R ARBs...braided brake hoses...yellow stuff for the rears (currently on blue stuff)..finish of the cruise control (might just sack that tho) ..new air filter ......and get a second job to pay for it all..!!
You need a second job , to pay for your expensive lifestyle.
How about a male escort.Heard it pays well [emoji6]

Well the hardtop has started to take shape...the previous repair had been quite poor so I had my guy fully strip it down and separate the strength sections of it so it would all line up.
Credit where credit is due the guy knows his job.
The cars has been in the shop 4 times for fittings so it's spot on .
I got a call yesterday for the final fitting and colour check.
All the rubber has to go on yet plus the window and roof lining.

Hi, do you have any before pics? I am probably purchasing a damaged top and would like to compare the two if possible. Thanks, JIM

sorry JIM not any of the damage.
the only advice i can give is try it on the car first......check the leading edge up against the window screen.
if thats still true then the rest can be adjusted using the fitting kit and brackets.
the problem i had was the repair had taken place in between the top and the strengthening pillars..which had been filled and painted over.
this throws the whole hardtop out.
my new body shop is a few guys that do full restorations on classics......!!
he really didn't mess about..he stripped it all back to the fiberglass....then dismantled the whole thing and took all the filler out then did put it all back together and re -glued it...so it fits spot using the car as the template.
the leading edge is the most critical !!!
full price for the hardtop with new glass without fitting kit has come in at a shade under 700 quid/....so i reckon iv come in about even

Thanks, I didn't realize you had purchased T-tony's top. He has some before pics he can send me. I just need the top to be weather tite as possible for the voyage over and then I can get it repaired properly. Or, possibly could arrange for your tech to fix it before shipping!! Hmmm! I guess I should really get the top first though. It comes with all fittings which would need to be installed and I'd need a volunteer to take their car to be used for straightening and test fitting as my car won't be registered. Anybody know of a Z3 owner that could help out an old man?? lol. JIM

JIM if I was you I'd get it shipped over and the fitted to your car..rather than someone else's..just in case there's any differences

May not be required as I've just had a proposal for another top. But, can't really see there being that big a difference between bodies unless one has been in a vicious accident and with all the adjustment in the fitting kits, can't see not being able to fit almost any top. Will keep you posted on which way I go. JIM
