Eeek, I gave gookah's earlier post a like - but for the photos provided of the tilting lift as opposed to any wider comments (just to be clear!)

Been looking at tilting lifts for a while. I think they looks amazeballs and will likely get one in future. However, my most pressing job, as soon as the weather warms up, is to clean up my inner sills. In my case, the stonechip has bubbled about a third of the way back from the front, so a tilting lift will probably occupy the area I need to get to as mrscalex points out.

You can do your sills a side at a time just by axle stands supporting that 'rail' which is just inboard of the sills. The biggest pain for that job is you have to remove front and rear wings to access the fixings.

Thanks for the tip mate. I was resigned to using axle stands (tilty lift will have to wait for another job) but hadn't thought to do just one side at a time. Which is clearly more sensible! Haha

I think if you look at Pete's pictures he has the lift pad inboard of the sills ?

I'm honestly not sure Tony. To me, it looked like the lift pad was under the bit of the car occupied by the inner sills. My outer sills are, much to my annoyance, fine. But I'm not terribly familiar with the underside of a Z3 yet

Here's a picture of what I hope to sort. This is behind the front right wheel. The bit where the stone chip has come off would seem to be the rail along the chassis where the tilted lift goes? Albeit the lift would be placed further back along the chassis.

You dont need to remove the rear wings to remove the sill bolts just remove the front bolts on the rear wing under the trim and pull the wing out at the bottom this gives access to the top sill bolt. The fronts need to come off but thats not an issue

If the pad isn't under the sill, doesn't that mean it's lifting up under the floor pan?
