@Althulas thanks, the rear subframe isn't too bad as you're working under the car rather than on either side of it, the front suspension and brakes is a different story. Getting each front wheel off took me an hour (for each wheel) as the wheel had become seized and there was no real space for me to hit the wheel to free it!!

P.S It's not all done yet, still go to lift in upto the car and bolt it on, not good at balancing so @Brian4 is coming over to help. Lucky him =))

Faheem see my latest post on my thread about this job. Where are you putting those silver disc washers for the beam bushes?

@Davyhoogy Mine are black =)) I dont know yet. Was looking at some youtube videos, I came across one where there was a washer both top and bottom.

Might be worth getting @Lee's opinion as he's done this plenty of times. :)

Do you have a closer photo. I’ve never seen discs top and bottom of the beam only on top above the nut face.

Could it be a part of the design? I’m guessing you’ve gone for a non Oem Bush brand.

So, the zed is back on the road (almost)!

Got the rear subframe bolted backup on Tuesday with lots of help from @Brian4

However, I've been struggling with the exhaust and a couple of the new brake lines, which were leaking. Finally managed to finish those bits on Sunday, so undertray back on and bled the brakes.

Pedal nice and firm but shortly after I lost that feeling as I developed a "weep" at the rear o/s brake line (where it attaches to the hose).

The brakes were usable and I was loosing very, very little fluid so I managed to make it home with the zed.

On the way, noticed a terrible high pitched whirring sound from the rear o/s wheel. Which would go away at higher speeds but around 5-30mph would sound awful. I'm thinking seized calipers or brake shoes inproperly adjusted and dragging against the inner drum?

Hope its the brake shoes needing adjustment and not the caliper as I've just spent ages painting them!

Once these two issues are sorted, it'll be straight in for its MOT (hopefully)

Good going pal, I had the back end up today and noticed that the O/S rear wheel is rocking with the handbrake on, the N/s is solid

Sounds most likely as though the back plate is catching on the brake disc Faheem.

The "rocking" is just the brake shoes moving on the back plate Sean, you haven't quite got them adjusted up the same that's all. Try pulling the handbrake on click by click and comparing the two brakes for binding and then locking.

That would be an even simpler fix Tony.

I'll jack it up at some point and give the rear wheels a spin, that should hopefully replicate the noise and help me find where it's coming from.

Re the brake pipes, I want to apply as much pressure to the system as possible to try and help identify and potential leaks in a safe environment before I start driving the zed or take it for its MOT, is the best way of doing this pressing down the brake pedal with force?

Just as you would when applying the brakes mate that's all, but have the engine running so that the servo is operative.

Had a similar thing with mine for months now, between 15-40mph, originally only when the car was hot, sounded like a window was slightly open. Now sounds like a fly buzzing in your ear and happens even when not upto temp. Checked wheels, brakes, handbrake, all sorts and can't find out what the hell it is. Drives me mad at times.

Glad it's all back together now and you resolve the leaks and noisy wheel. Could be the back plate rubbing

So @t-tony was spot on, no seized caliper for me to worry about. Just the backplate catching. Sorted out a few leaks, by loosening and re-tightening at the flare to improve the seal and not a leak in sight now.

Bleeding was a pain. After being bled using gravity bleeding the pedal was definitely firmer but still some sponginess there.

Moved it up a notch and used a sealey pressure bleeder, bit better but still not to my liking.

Then used DIS and bled the abs module and did that twice. Just about got all the air out i think. Pedal is nice and firm now. Gone through about 5l of brake fluid in the process :banghead: Now it'll be off for its MOT on Tuesday. Really hope it passes!! Can't wait to get it back on the road :)

I think that's me done with any zed work for at least 6 months.......

Great news Bud, it'll fly through the test now. I think you've earned a lot of driving time for the foreseeable future. Very well done Faheem.

Thanks @Faheem for the write up covering your progress and some of the issues that the rest of us may encounter. Good luck with the MOT and many hours of trouble free driving to come.
