The tank has a bolt that holds it, no I am not replacing all the bolts as its to pricey, however we have a stock og the more standard stuffHow are you supporting the tank now that you've removed the straps? My mistake is that I've got 30 litres or so of petrol left in my tank!
Are you replacing all the nuts and bolts too @Sean d? I'm in the process of putting together a list of what I'd like to replace using realoem and the likes and I think this may get really expensive really quickly!

That would work fine if you have the access, I have a dremel with a bendy head for these occasions. Problem overcome in 30 seconds should it happen again. 30 + zeds rebuilt and its not happened sinceTried again with my bolt extractor kit but the 13mm doesn't grip tight enough around the head so just ends up damaging the outside of the allen bolt. Even tried a torx socket but a T40 is too loose and a t45 wont go in (don't want to damage it anymore so haven't tried hammerring)
@Brian4 will be coming over to help with the allen bolt tomorrow. Fingers crossed it comes out.
If all else fails what would happen if i tried to drill the head of the bolt off and try to unscrew the threads with a pair of vice grips?
Get an easy out mate, they are only 8mm and not that tight, I think Robert @mrscalex did something similarTried again with my bolt extractor kit but the 13mm doesn't grip tight enough around the head so just ends up damaging the outside of the allen bolt. Yes mate, left handed thread and if they are any good they will bite in hard and do the jobIs this what you mean by the easy outs @Sean d?
I bought this set off some seller in China a year or so ago but have never had to use it so really not sure of the quality or even how to use these things are but I'll bang it on YouTube and hopefully get an idea of how they're used.
View attachment 81077but like Lee says one of my issues might still be access being that the bolt is right next to the fuel tank!
You may struggle with room with those Faheem. The idea is you put the size tool to require for your job into the chuck of a drill and use it to drill a hole exactly the right size for the left hand threaded easy out on the other end of that same tool. Hope that makes sense. Did you buy some flat jawed Mole grips? That may be the next best option mate.Is this what you mean by the easy outs @Sean d?
