Interesting reading as usual well done mate
Well it all started with my old M. Might end up going back to another M if I kill this engine. Or I’ll just bite the bullet and buy a crate motor.Only two more upgrades to go mate. 3.2 then V8. Give it 6 weeks and you'll be there!
Be intersting to see the performace pal, I have a guy near me that has a 3.0l lump knocking about,Well it all started with my old M. Might end up going back to another M if I kill this engine. Or I’ll just bite the bullet and buy a crate motor.
@Sean d it’s not that bad. Just take your time and think things through. What’s becoming more clear is how many engine bits and systems share parts. Weather they have the same part number or not they do the right function.
Food for thought! If you have the TU engine it’s almost a straight swap.Be intersting to see the performace pal, I have a guy near me that has a 3.0l lump knocking about,

Speedy update.
The 3.0 engine is now in!!! Less than 24/h turnaround.
haha! tell me about it, the first time I pulled the engine I made a point of making things quick release and using all new bolts. Think that's why it's so much easier this time round.Have you used wingnuts?
they are easier to undo..... just sayin'
I'm just chuffed it's sorted and it wasn't mesome nugget
Who cares if it's sorted......I'm just chuffed it wasn't me
Do we tell people it took 40mins to remove the gearbox.I'm just chuffed it's sorted and it wasn't me
Would the ecu that was in place for the 2.2 run the 3.0 Lee?So she runs and pulls well, albeit using far to much fuel in the process. I only got 160miles from a whole tank. Correct M54 parts on route along with ECU to make things more stable. I'm suprised she runs at all really with the 2.8 ECU running the 3.0 block.

Everything was already loose anyway. Probably fitted everything back even quicker, even though it’s the wrong way roundDo we tell people it took 40mins to remove the gearbox.
Probably best not to, they'll all want their gearboxes taken out...Do we tell people it took 40mins to remove the gearbox.
Thats good to hear, when do I drop Willow offDo we tell people it took 40mins to remove the gearbox.
I've got quite a pile of ECU's building up. I'm running the 2.8TU ECU at the moment. Not sure if it would run with the 2.2 or not, so many people offer exchange services it's relativly cheap to get the right setup.Would the ecu that was in place for the 2.2 run the 3.0 Lee?
Or did that get binned when you went to the 2.8?
Interrupting the interesting thread

The amount of times that things been in bits I would've thought all you would need to do was whistleDo we tell people it took 40mins to remove the gearbox.
