I just paid 1030 for a 1.9 97 plate 120k on the clock completely rust free.
Yeah. Me for an owner.I think the Z3 just has something that a Z4 doesn't,
That’s push bike money for a nice summer fun car. But I bet there will be a fair bit of rust underneath.I just paid 1030 for a 1.9 97 plate 120k on the clock completely rust free.
They are the norm in the real world, we see hyper inflated prices on lots of low mileage Z3's but they sit around on the sale sites for months, a few months ago I paid £700 for a 2.8 with 130k but has full dealer history, it is getting a full restoration and rebuild from the bottom up and so far I have spent 2k on parts, however if I had purchased a lower mileage tidy Z it would still need all the suspension components replacing.I'm on a few tvp (van) forums and it always used to shock me how people always seem to try and push the values down on their vans.
It seems the same on here. Some of the low prices on here seem crazy. Yes there are bargains to be had but those prices aren't the norm.
I was going by prices sold on eBay. As to say, there are bargains to be had. But most of the time those are in remote areas. They are the norm in the real world, we see hyper inflated prices on lots of low mileage Z3's but they sit around on the sale sites for months, a few months ago I paid £700 for a 2.8 with 130k but has full dealer history, it is getting a full restoration and rebuild from the bottom up and so far I have spent 2k on parts, however if I had purchased a lower mileage tidy Z it would still need all the suspension components replacing.
Spot on there Sean.however if I had purchased a lower mileage tidy Z it would still need all the suspension components replacing.
Add to that, you and @Sean d, will have the satisfaction and security of the knowledge that you did the work yourselves and more importantly to what standard.Spot on there Sean.
Then add in neglected service items and smaller items like brakes, brake pipes, water pump, thermostat, fuel filter, spark plugs, aerial grommet, window sliders, rear window, coolant, brake fluid, tyres, handbrake, wheel sensors which all more often than not need changing regardless of mileage.
I keep thinking I paid too much for my 3.0 with prices falling. The reality is I still did the right thing buying an unfinished project when I did as I’d rather spend £2k on parts on a decent cheap car than a ‘tidy’ £6k car as the final spend will be less.
Yes. My point was a few hundred extra quid is not greatly material when you are going to town on a car you intend to keepAdd to that, you and @Sean d, will have the satisfaction and security of the knowledge that you did the work yourselves and more importantly to what standard.
"thinking I paid too much for my 3.0 with prices falling" .......... ain't that just life though Rob?
They do say "If hindsight was 20-20"We can all be smart looking over our shoulders mate.
Tony.
Each to his own. If you don't care that's fine.Who cares if the prices fall?
only those who are intending to sell on, or those that think they may have overpaid. (and if you do think that.... then you probably did)
Or buy it back and fix it yourself, or just buy another cheap one and swap the bits over. That's all part of my enjoyment. If values drop then there is a greater chance of your pride and joy being written off after I minor accident.
After all the work we put in, a lot of people simply don't want to start again
You only have to read Dave's progress thread to see proof of that and his old car wasn't a scrapper. He bought well and made himself a great car.Or buy it back and fix it yourself, or just buy another cheap one and swap the bits over. That's all part of my enjoyment.
