Please does anyone know where I can get a N20B20A Engine 🌞
In good condition, that can be delivered to Bradwell near Great Yarmouth 🙂
Its for my bmw Z E89 2012 2litre 🌞

Are you sure it’s that dead Shelly?. What about getting a quote from an engine rebuild specialist. It sounds like it’s beyond what your garage can/would want to do. Remember most garages want to work on fast throughput, they don’t want anything taking up ramp space for long periods.

Dropping a new engine in is the quick/simple answer for them.

What did they say was wrong with the old one?

Food for thought Shelly.

The advert does ask for you to contact them before buying.

It’s a reconditioned engine, description in the advert

Something about the timing chain had jumped and the teeth are shattered and its only firing on 2 cylinders 🌞
We went to the garage yesterday and he basically said he gets more money from mots and doing brake pads etc 🙁
He has only looked at the car twice since it’s been in his hands 😕
And he’s had it 4 weeks tomorrow 😳

Yes i think so ….🤔
And yes you are right , when I went to the garage yesterday, I asked where my Z was and he said out the back as he needed the space …..🥲

He’s being honest. Quite a lot of garages that do MOT’s get enough of a return doing that, he would be out of pocket sorting that engine vs the easier work doing MOT’s.

In my opinion here the internal damage cost is unknown and you won’t know till you’ve spent a few hours pulling it apart. In this case I would source a replacement engine from a scrapped car and pay for it to be swapped out.

these engines are known to wear sprockets and chain stretch, combination of age and not enough regular oil changes.

food for thought.

Is the engine specific to the Z4 or was it used in other BMWs ?

Thank you, Allan has been on lots of sites but we’re just worried about switching the engine, just in case it’s worse than my one , mine has only done 80000 miles 😢
