Rebody Pingu's Kit Car Project

Always worth putting up progress reports and photos as other builders will post tips and ideas. Not very good to be given a brilliant idea after it has been painted and you can't do anything about it.

On yours, I always wonder how a coupe side window would look as it doesn't have the rounded tail edge.
Would the Grassbanks rear window work on it?

I can't put up progress reports as there is no progress for me to report. I haven't seen the car in nearly six months.

My rolling chassis went into a black hole and it will come out completed. How the transformation takes place is down to someone else. I have a rough idea of what they do, but I don't need to know the detail. They are supposed to be experts at what they do. They are probably as expert at what they do as anyone who gets paid to do what they do. They may be better. It may turn out to be a pile of pants. Only time will tell.

Re, the side window. A kit car that resembles a particular car is just that - a resemblance. If it's aesthetics that you are talking about, it is long past the time when a change to the shape of the window can be made without major structural changes. It is what it is.

The only build of one of these kits that I have seen was Kidge's, it was the first one built.
He had plexiglass side specially windows made with a scratch resistant coating but they proved to be not very successful.

Still no update, 6 month delay wouldn't work for me.

I've got enough balls in the air. I'm quite happy to let them juggle with this one for the time being. I only ask updates out of curiosity.

I'd be in more of a pickle if they said "it's ready come and collect it" than I am with them doing what they are doing.

The last I heard (about two weeks ago) was that it has been primed. It has probably been painted now.

Ping me a message if you want me to be nosey, the guy next door to their unit does my paint.

I'm probably missing something - but what is the kit?

There was no update further than Pingu’s last Thursday as I was there and do ask myself as interested party.

Will be there later this week so if I hear anything..

Your car was pretty much complete inside etc so know the guys are hoping it’s a quick ish put together as soon as they receive it. Don’t want it hanging around dodgy Hampshire for too long 😜

I hope all is ok, normally after an excellent paint job the painter can't wait to show it off. I would be worried about no phone call or updates with photos. Could mean a poor finish or needs a lot of work before they want to reveal it, hopefully, this won't be the case but I would be arranging a visit ASAP!

sorry, don;t know how I hit the bold button

I wont type in bold as dont know how...
I went to see the CCW guys and no sign of car as yet but Ian is in process of checking to feed back to Pingu.

CCW are in the process of a few parallel builds so ready for when it is finished but havent been pressurising paintshop recently.

Im providing this as the thread could do with moving along but i dont wish to get in the way of direct contact between you guys.

Really?

I do come from the Mortimer West end direction. Will have to say hi some time 😀

Any update yet? It's been 13 months!

You need a maths refresher  .

The car was delivered to them on 28 June 2021. That's 453 days ago.

If CC are reading this - I don't really mind. The Stratos replica above took three years to deliver. I'd be less happy to get something that looks like a kit car in a couple of months than something that looks like a car in the time it has taken. CC are aware of this, and I've often told them that I want it right, I don't want it quick.

It won't be long now. I've seen the car and it's 95% ready. The only things that still need doing is the final fettling. I expect it to be 99% ready when I get it. Nobody will be able to get it 100% as I want it except me.
