This will be interesting - its a visit down my family tree - Have traced predecessors of my family to all those villages. My Grandad was also in the Sherwood Foresters who are celebrated at Crich stand. Glad its not moved - can see that from my parents bedroom window - until some houses are built later this year that is :-(
Did they ever get the light repaired on Crich Stand? - used to see it from an ex girlfriends house. As far as I'm aware it's the only inland lighthouse?

ok where is everyone staying - we will be staying somewhere on the saturday night (too far from Manchester to travel on the day). There was a Derbyshire cruise from near here a couple of years ago and I stayed at the Breadsall Marriott (no marriott points left now so wont be staying there) which is just round the corner - I remember there werent many pubs nearby to have something to eat so its either one of the holiday inns at Derby (on points) or in a nice pub / B&B in the local countryside - Any info welcome

There's a holiday inn at pride park which looks good. I'd avoid the one at M1 J25 as its a bit tired and a target for travelling auto crime criminals.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn at Pride Park last year for the Derby Beer Festival
and have booked again for this year so can recommend that.

I don't recall seeing it for a long time. I suspect it hasn't :(

The Bubble inn featured on channel 4's four in a bed, came out really well looked inviting, not sure how far from the start point but in the general vacinity

It's about half an hour from the start. It's to the south of Derby and we're meeting on the north.

Just a bit of info for anyone looking to book one of the hotels in or around Pride Park.... On 23/04/16 Derby FC are at home to Sheffield Wednessday (1500hrs kick off) so the area will be noisy and busy. There will also be temporary traffic restrictions and road closures near to the ground. This may not bother some folk but didn't want anyone caught off guard.

There's a brand new Premier Inn just opened in the centre of Derby. Also one on the A52 Ashbourne road on the outskirts of Derby, plus the Mackworth Hotel on the opposite side of the road .These are only 15 mins or less from the start point at Morley.
