I figured I'd document the journey a little bit. I've picked up this P reg (uk) 150k that's been off the road for 8 years. I have it purely as a project to play with. So the good parts, the roofs in great condition and it has a stainless exhaust. It's the m44b19 which starts and runs pretty sweet considering it has a massive vacuum leak. It's going to be fun trying to rescue this little zed. The black bonnet was swapped onto a silver zed for some reason. Never mind it all needs some paint.

Also if anyone would like a tow bar, just let me know. That's the first thing to go.

Thanks for reading

Day 1 just got it home

Hi and welcome from me in Scotland.

I'm sure someone will be tempted by a towbar.
The only thing is will probably leave you needing to aquire a bumper support bar as you will probably find the towbar assembly has replaced the original one.

Good luck with your resto work keep us posted we like to read about zeds getting saved .
Stephen.

Chopped away some of the rust, I need to go a bit further but I ran out of time. Looking forward to welding her up. I've treat all the rust with a chemical treatment (pass side)

Does anyone have a decent link on how to remove the roof? It seems I have some grass to cut under it.

Thanks

A little progress today, thanks to the advice on the other thread. The rear subframe is out ready to be stripped and blasted. The cars tub is actually really good but all the bolt on bits are corroded. It came from a seaside town which probably explains the condition.

I ended up just chopping the plates to get the subframe out. Now I have more space I'll get back in and weld some proper nuts over the stupid torque heads.

Getting stuck in there, take a look at Mazza's progress thread on what he is achieving, a mine of info which may well guide you on yours. Interested to know how that tow bar was fitted, did it require the spare wheel carrier to be deleted.

Thanks, I'll check it out. The spare wheel basket was still in place. I'll try and get some pics of it.

I've started to clean the interior up a bit. There was a pool of water on the drivers floor pan under the seat. I've pulled the carpet and shampooed it up. I'll need to get the smoke machine out as the roof looks good, I am suspecting a window seal maybe. I also removed the rear parcel shelf carpet as it came with a garden.
