A couple of beauties there, what equipment did you use ?. I have the wet season here so not getting a look in, no chance of the comet from here..
Thanks. I'm using the lazy astronomers best friend, the Zwo Seestar S50. Amazing tool for very little money.

Unfortunately the weather in the UK has been pants as well, endless cloud cover for weeks on end and typically it is usually clear when I'm working nights!

Great results though, I,m switching over to all ZWO stuff slowly, So far I,m super impressed with the camera ASI 533 MC Pro, although its only single stage cooling so typically gets down to a -10C at best, in warmer climes. So I stick to that for consistency. And the AM5N mount although a bit pricey, Is a joy to use.. The Chinese are certainly making so top notch stuff...

I'm well impressed by the pics you are doing. Tried and failed to get decent images through my 5" Skywatcher reflector using my Canon DSLR, so the S50 is a revelation. Once I've got the hang of using it I'm hoping upload to the pc and master some tweaking software.

Gimp is free, I use it... Mainly the histo stretch, and curve adjust. I played with your horsehead neb just to see what that little thing can actually do, and its damn good, more time was needed I think. Interesting to see such a good job made with algorithms to correct for field rotation in an altazimuth mount.. Good stuff...;)

Well based on the images that @Eddie Zedder just posted. for less that a grand Aussie, and no or very little learning curve, small and transportable. I would certainly go that way...But pair it with a tablet... Dobs are big cumbersome things and not much use for imaging but good for visual at modest cost.. JMTCW..

@Althulas I was torn between the S50 and the newer S30 but settled on the S50 due to the extra focal length and being well tried and tested, plus it was down to £485 at the time of purchase.

@Eddie Zedder , I forgot to ask, did you crop any of those images you took ?..

Shawn
Just the M81 pic Shawn, there was some fuzziness in the top left and bottom right, It was a damp night, so I think it was due to moisture on the lens and some idiot forgot to turn the dew heater on!
The sun close up was done using the inbuilt 4x digital zoom, so basically a cropped image. Bryan.

Ok, just getting a feel for the sensor size, I shoot mainly at 250mm and get the horsehead and flame in the same pic easily , so either the sensor is small but packed with pixels or, the cropped aspect is due to an auto crop of tracking variations and or field rotation. I,m thinking of getting one myself as a grab and go, rather than a grab and groan...;)

Here you go Bryan, I found one taken at 250mm FL, With an ASI 533 camera, its a square chip @ 11mm x 11mm, only 9m pixels though.. The image is only cropped top and bottom slightly as I had a bit of alignment drift. probably exposed for about 40 minutes in total. It would be interesting to see what yours would do left for that long. Oh I did use an Optolong LPro filter on this one, to eliminate nearby skyglow from lights..I see you can fit filters to your too..

Great photo Shawn. I tried Mosaic mode on the Orion Nebula and Andromeda a few weeks ago but foiled by clouds both times. The sensor details (from the web) - Sony IMX462 OSC sensor. It is a small sensor with small pixels and high QE: The sensor dimensions are 5.6 x 3.2mm, pixel size is 2.9µm.

Now I see why your FOV is smaller at the same FL. Looking forward to seeing what it can do in mosaic mode...
