I was surprised at the thickness of the inner sill beams when I was cleaning mine up. I cannot get an accurate measurement of the thickness but using the tail end of a digital vernier and a Mark one eyeball, they appear to be about 0.1 inch thick.
My car is a 3.0 litre, build date Aug 2000.

Ahh as I suspected. I was thinking it had to be the 3.0.... It makes sense... Bigger engine thicker chassis.... But yep its noticeably thicker. I'll get a measurement tomorrow with the micrometer :)

Here are some picks.... Because why the heck not!

I let my dad do the important bits. It's not a good idea for a nooby to mess up my car.... Funnily enough. My dad bought the welder that we have to weld his very first car ( well over 30 years ago!) And now were using it to do the same on mine! How odd...

I don't know if you can see... But there is a part at the end of the front sill, where the plastic bung is. It had completely rusted, so its been cut out and were going to fabricate a new piece to weld in, I don't know if its completely necessary, but its better to be safe than sorry. That's my job tomorrow :)

Well there all on! They look amazing, going to polish the while car some time soon and its got a nice even colour and shine, the welding in the chassis worked out really well but took about a day for each corner! Putting the panels on took a long days work too, but in there now, all I want now is a hard top! Hah I'll upload some pics when I get a chance (maybe tomorrow)
