Not a good day at the office.

Roads have been awful all day mate. No don't think we caused any delay.
No harm done thankfully.
Just generally bad - lots of water flowing off fields onto the roads.

It was pretty atrocious around there. I had a t**t in a BMW 4 series just itching to get past on the A5 after Rugby - then I slowed to walking pace and waded through a foot or more of water - again. He stopped and thought for a minute before he carefully followed me. He decided to drive sensibly after that.

Glad to here your ok Dave, were the police called, will your firm pursue him for costs

Just a thought @Grumpy you said you were overtaking in the middle lane so with the limiter on you were 55/56 mph how SLOW was the car doing.

Just another of my pet hates about motorways damn dangerous slow drivers.

I'm limited to 53 Brian, I would say a max of 50 maybe even less than that.

I bet with the drag that's enough.
More trucks should be limited to that. Had one pull out into lane 4 on the M6 on the way from Birmingham last night. No load but he must have been doing close to 70. Clearly governors don't always work and knowledge of the laws evaporate.

The A14 from Catthorpe used to be the worst the two trucks limiters must have calibrated slightly out must have taken 5 mins for one to pass the other that's nearly 5 miles.

I was chatting to an artic driver a while back and the limiter/govener could be turned off and with a full load on he said the truck wouldn't stop from the speeds it could achieve as the brakes would fade drastically. whether this is true @Grumpy will confirm.

That's why trucks over here are not allowed to overtake each other at certain times of the day and have to stay in the slow lane.
Makes sense to me.

There's stretches of the A34 south of Oxford that I'm sure @GazHyde is familiar with that has overtaking restrictions for trucks but its only on the hilly sections. Doesn't always stop them though.

I don't see the point of one truck doing half a mile an hour faster than another and trying to overtake it.
