Not a good day at the office.

Not sure what is in place south of Newbury currently, but there isn't one between Newbury and Oxford. They ran it on the infamous Ilsley section for a few months. Not sure if it was judged successful or not, I'm guessing not. Unusually, I would actually commend the highways agency if the speed limit was lowered for that section of road as it's incredibly dangerous.
It is dangerous - trucks struggling to do 40-45 and boneheads overtaking them at 90+.

Yes but as said above Paul the unscrupulous will pull the fuse to eliminate the limiter to get around quicker. If they are on a downhill run with weight on, any lorry will shoot through the limiter if allowed. Both these acts will get you massive fines and possible loss of vehicles from there operators licence, and just so in my eyes.
But do those fines get handed out often enough. Transport managers need to be made directly liable for the actions of their drivers if they allow safety devices to be made inoperable. Should be a few high profile cases - If I allowed one of our employees to work in an unsafe manner and somebody gets injured, I go to prison! Why shouldn't they.

RHD ones over here.....
I appreciate the same thing must happen on your side Mike. There was a time when drivers had a mate, not any more though.

Tony.

D'you think he gets lonely Mike?;)

Tony.

They do. The 'O' licence is attached to the transport manager as well as the company. They can be taken to court if needs be.

Glad you came out of the accident OK.It's scary there are so many uninsured drivers out there , not to mention no licence etc. The really important thing is you were not in the Z3 or that would probably have been a mess and you might not have been so lucky yourself.
Take care,
Ken.

Should be done as a matter of course. If the driver new their boss was going to be prosecuted as a result of their actions they would be without a job and no chance of getting another. They might think twice then. The transport managers would take steps to ensure that deliberate actions didn't happen. Some random spot checks would help. You would soon find the good and responsible bosses.

I think a stretch of the A34 northbound still has overtaking restrictions up the hill climb... To stop elephant races. One of my hates... Container trucks heading to Southampton, as its first in the line gets off loaded first.. So the race the bottom of the A34 and then the M3..

And yes.. This truck is limited to 56mph .. Hold on I am doing 70 in traffic and you are glued to my bumper ... Hmmmm 56 my a***
I am so sick of huge lorries tailgating me.

ive only had my beautiful baby 3 weeks so I got a sticker made don't know if you can see it on my window hubby thinks im mad ,I absolutely am AT the drivers. The standards are lower now , they used to be respected as the best on the road. not now.

Just have to accept it and turn the radio up.
Why do tractors need to go that far - surely anything other than a mile or so justifies a proper vehicle. Just don't get it.
Some of the farm vehicles are massive nowadays - not just the combines, but some of the others. See one regularly that has three massive wheels and sticks out on the opposite side of the road.
They can travel up to 15 miles does my head in,,,,, cheap fuel that's why go to the shops lol

I train drivers and they get 3 strikes and they are out for tail gating. I hate it as well. Seen to much s*** with lorries ramming cars. But please do not tar us all with the same brush. :)

Of course you are not all the same, just like not all ladies are as good a driver as me lol. I would LOVE to tar you all with the same brush as I used to .... saying THEY ARE THE BEST on the road. Truck driver pride, wish they would all join a group called that

"I would LOVE to tar you all"
I hope this tarring doesn't involve feathers Dave "Ouch"

Speed limit is 60mph, Glad you are ok mate I bet the paperwork was a nightmare, I would have had to have counselling as they now call it lol.
