You might also find interesting the threads on the different grades of fuel, which oil to use in the gearbox/diff, which are the best wheels and the advantages of a new gear knob. Actually we haven't had a good knob thread for some time
Keep smiling
I hear you! But to be quite honest, my knob is the last thing I am thinking about at the moment!

Well this is it... No zedding for me for a while. ☹
Next Wednesday I start my fight with the big C and they say that after the op I can’t drive for 3 months!
What am I going to do?? I bet it will be a really sunny 3 months now!
A bit shitty when a stupid tumour gets between you and top down driving!
I suppose I will just have to sit in the driving seat and imagine all the great country lanes around here.
Hope to be well enough to attend Zedfest though!
So sorry to hear this hope it all goes well and you get back in the driving seat soon.

Wishing you a speedy revovery @Dalek, I can't imagine what you and the family must be going through at the minute.
Glad to hear that you're on the mend though.

Thanks Fraser. Yes, it is a bit rough at the moment but I am making progress. I set myself a small goal each day and make sure I do as I am told by the doctors. Hopefully they will confirm that they got it all when I meet the surgical team again in August, so until then, onwards and upwards!
The support I have had is amazing, not least from the members of this group, some of which are fighting their own personal health battles, which makes a lot of difference. Sometimes, in the very early hours, illness can be a very lonely place!

I really hope you hear some good news in August. You're doing exactly what you should be by setting yourself targets each day, it will certainly help physically and mentally.
I'm normally at work until about 1am most mornings sometimes later, so if you ever need to pass the time or just for company's sake in the mornings when you cant sleep please feel free to PM me. :)

I work for DHL managing the delivery operations for Kumho and Toyo tyres. Its only a small site, but I'm generally there until 1am or so depending when the last trailer arrives.

Just a quick update as I am now getting really bored with this ‘getting better’ malarky!
The wounds are getting slightly less painful and tender by the day, although I still cough quite a bit and that still hurts. I am also really looking forward to the day that I can lie down properly in my own bed instead of spending the whole night on the sofa with the cat!
I have to admit though I am amazed how well I feel considering what they did to me just over a week ago! It can only be down to the fact that I was in tip top condition and at my peak of perfection before I went in! (Yeah, right!)
I still set myself small goals each day, and yesterday I left the house on my own for a short walk around the block. It was brilliant! All my neighbours came out to see how I was and wanted to hear the full story. Hard to imagine now, but about 6 weeks ago I did not even know I had lung cancer!
The hardest part of the walk was having to go passed the zed on such a lovely day. Normally, it is any excuse to get the hood down and enjoy the sunshine! I am counting the days until I can drive again.
One of my next targets is to get myself and the car valeted and head off to the H4H Giving Something Back bash coming up in Tidworth. What some of those guys live with daily certainly puts my woes into perspective!
I may not be well enough to ‘drive out’ but if you are there, please come and say hello. I should be easy to find, I will be the very slightly overweight, follicley challenged bloke sitting in what I’m guessing might be the only pistachio Z3 there!
Anyway, thanks again for all your support. Now it is time to move the cat over and try to get some sleep.

Sorry to hear you're still in a bit of pain but as you say you are getting there. Sounds like your very positive attitude will help with your recovery. See you at the H4H day:thumbsup:

Another major milestone!!
I am now able to get into (and out of) my own bed.
Bliss!! No more nights on the sofa.
All I have to do now is work out the position I need to lie in which will let me sleep.
I am so pleased to hear you are back in your own pit, take it steady bits at a time you will get there my friend.

Thanks Gremlin. Can’t help feeling that I will get better much sooner now that I can get a good nights sleep. Still have to take pain killers every couple of hours though, but I can cope with that for now.
