Oh sh.....damn.....more painting it is then .Well mate, the bad news is, if you're fitting spacers you will likely find, as I did, that the diameter of the spacers is not the same as the disc hubs, so you will have to paint a small portion of the hub face too. I discovered that late on Friday afternoon. See below. b***** !

Tony.
Sounds like a plan Do you think we should tell Tony lolMaybe in a few weeks....could have a ride over to invade Tony and Shirl to admire all his upgrades
Guess he might find out fairly soon as he pops on here occasionally!Sounds like a plan Do you think we should tell Tony lol
Damn didn't think of that lolGuess he might find out fairly soon as he pops on here occasionally!
Proud of you chap cracking jobHad a busy afternoon, evening and night......
Started by prepping the back plates for painting, followed by 3 coats of silver (copied Tony) but don't tell him

Then set about prepping and painting the disc centres and outer edges, again in silver
Pic of the discs masked up ready for the shiny stuff......what a ball ache that process was

Then I fitted a heater to the wall in the shed and concocted a make shift bench.

Four coats on each disc.....i sure hope they'll look ok on the car.
All this and i haven't even took the pads out the calipers yet.....not bad for saying I only wanted a flash of paint on them at the outset .
Steve
Will be well worth it when it's done Steve, horrible job doing the cleaning isn't it? I found when I did mine that the front callipers self bled easy, like when we fitted the O/S/F one? The rears may need an assistant. If you want some tips let me know and I'll PM them to you.Had an early finish at work yesterday so I thought I'd refit the brake discs which of course is simples .......but adjusting the hand brake....hmmm,those bloody adjusters that you have to second guess with a screw driver through a wheel nut hole thank god I had the Bentley manual to hand what a faff...and don't get me started on the hand brake lever adjusters inside the car . I'm not kidding I must have spent 3 hours fettling to get it right, but struggling for the right tools didn't help so treated myself to a decent socket set

Then I called in at the brake caliper specialist in my home town, thanks to @bertiejaffa for the heads up on this .
Spoke to Rich, the owner very helpful and he mixed up some paint for me that should match the body colour . For £30 you get the paint,,hardener, brush, sanding pad,cleaning\prep fluid and even a pair of gloves. They do the calipers for a Ferrari dealer amongst others.I took a few pics while I was there.......

They do a full rebuild and paint but not cheap I was quoted over £400 with basic paint or with high end paint and smoothing off the calipers £600 .....so I opted to pay the £30 for the paint and D.I.Y .
Then I set about cleaning up the callipers.....what a messy job

Tony.
He ain't got a shed Steve. What about a Z Tent? I had the heaters on in the garage last week so hat is off to a man who's working " al fresco"Much respect Steve. I wonder do we have another Zed Shed in the making.
Me too mate, funny how we're always smart afterwards isn't it?Cheers Tony
A big yes please for any advice and tips .
I remember the front one you did for me was no bother as you said, but I can imagine the rears being more involving.
The cleaning bit is awfull.....i was coughing up black stuff for an hour afterwards ......should have used a dust mask .
Steve
Could do a "zed drive and big garden shed" branch .Much respect Steve. I wonder do we have another Zed Shed in the making.
Thanks MikeAlways worth investing in a good set of tools to do these sorts of jobs with. Like the look of the cleaned calipers, you've put a lot of hard work into them.
Mike
It's ok, I'll dispatch the "Old boy" to come and clean them, all part of the training. Thanks Mike
Tbh I didn't realise how much hard work this would be,but as Tony said it'll be worth it in the end......i hope.
Not used my new socket set yet....don't want to get it dirty .
Steve
Hahahah I'll provide the Brasso .....and tea to keep him going .It's ok, I'll dispatch the "Old boy" to come and clean them, all part of the training.
Tony.
Cheers Steve.........but if they look like a sows ear I'll say "it was that low rider geezer" .Steve the best thing is once you have finished is not only you will have some smart claipers to be proud of but also you can say
"I did them"
