Just another snippet to add to what I've up to this week.
Decided the cold air feed through the L/H kidney grill just wasn't big enough.

So after seeing something for the Z4 on here that Gaz put up I've fabricated something that grabs just a little more just in case the engine wants it and because the cold air is FREE.

Been out and doesn't seem to effect the cooling even under a lot of hard work but will have to see if it still holds up on a hot British summers day sometime in the next couple of years. (The white tape is just to make it stand out in the pics) Made it out of a roller pant tray. £1.99 from the pound shop.:bookworm:

My petrol head buddy turned up today in his Cerarra S 3.8 to see how I was getting along with this mod.

Carerra looks nice side on.

Couldn't say it looks better than the Z front view, but then I'm biased.

Having been in my Z before he said if it's running ok let's see what it's got. Couldn't get passed some of the cars he overtook even though I was close behind, stupid to even try as he could take a smaller gap than I reackon I need. However we had agreed it's a safety comes first outing. He agreed it's going real nice as he booted it up the slip road and around the bend not being able to get away in the bend then when it straightened out he floored it in second but didn't really leave me for dead until he hit third and I ran out of revs in second, then he was gone. I was so pleased with my Zs performance on the bend but then I've never had anything else to compare it with. (He's most likely being kind.) Still couldn't ask any more from my Z. The end result is something we all knew, no point to taking on this type of super car even in the bends cos sooner or later it'll be gone. He hasn't offered me a drive yet and not sure he will but he's been in mine and was surprised how well the Z goes. Nice of him to say.
This manifold mod is the way to go, and along with the suspension has made this little car a treat to drive. "Better than my old Escort Mk1 RS2000???"............errrrrrrrrr.............at this time in my life, YOU BET!!!!!!!! Next is the map after the hols.
PS; The fuel trim codes have finally gone.

@Rha do you know the part number of the manifold you used? The one @gookah used is 7501527 which I know works and I have found several with this part number, yet they have come from a 320 which is a 2.2 so I wonder if it's the same as the one you used and the same as the ones off the 330?
Thanks

Hi @g8jka, I didn't have a part number when I purchased it but was assured it was from a m54 330i circa 2001+ Pt No 7525 753 and it fits. So I can safely say part number for the E46,330i m54 inlet manifold that fits my 2.8tu is, 11 61 7525 753 and checking it it's the same No for Z3,3.0lt, so if I was you that's the part No I would be looking for, it's not the same number as gooka's so Not sure how come, but the question is how many models have the same manifold, we do know BMW sauced a lot of parts for their new models from older ones which makes good business sense but is a nightmare for after market modifications. Could be that the part numbers are really close like 1-2digits at the end but how can we find out without comparing them or asking BMW who are likely to be less than helpful when it comes to DIY modification. Hope you find one soon so you'll be adle to enjoy that big mile wide smile :happy:, nuff said.

@gk8jka
Just checked part Nos for E46, M54 320ci and 325ci which is; 11 61 7525 752 as you will notice is only one digit different to my 330i manifold, could be the same but for BMW part no ref model, might be worth checking out.

Just found E60 530i has the same part No for its M54B30 inlet manifold; 11 61 7 525 753 so it seems there's another model with the right inlet manifold for the 2.8tu swap, scrap merchants might not know so worth looking into.

Hi @Sean d
I found the part No in the parts catalog not on e bay and the one your looking at isn't 11 61 7525 753 which is the one I quoted for the 2.8tu swap, no idea if it fits your 2.0 and doubt you'll get the above manifold that cheap unless its nackered. ;)

Thanks @Rha certainly helps with a part number as I can find one from other models as they seem to be cheaper. Found one off an X3 I think it was which seems to share the same engine. Most I have contacted who break 330's want £100 plus for them and I want to do it as cheap as possible. I know the 2.5 and 3.0 ones fit but I think the 330 gives an even better increase of performance.

That's one I have seen and is the same as the one my Dad has on his 2.8TU, certainly has the bigger ports but not sure if it still gives the full benefit of the 330 ones. My brother has an E36 2.8 single vanos with the old conversion and it was quite a bit faster down the strip at Santa Pod (infact almost M3 territory at mid 14's) compared to my Dads so we are unsure if the 2.0 gives the full benefit now even though it all bolts on and does give a significant improvement.

I think I'll hold out for a cheap one from a 330 then me and @gookah can go head to head down the strip this year :nailbiting:
