I quoted that because I read it so often on here. I have got a 3.0 .

OK well I have a 2.2 and a 3.0 both Z3's as does @Mint I think Dave will agree the 2.2 is a very capable little zed and goes very well. The 3.0 just has that extra power when you need it. They are both amazing little Zeds.

Agreed Paul. Never had a problem keeping up in my 2.2, even on some of Jim's (@TaffZee) Welsh Cruises.

A bmw 325 m sport convertible I bought brand new in 2003 has just come up for sale. So going to look at it today

If its half decent I'm buying it back then my 2.2 will be up for sale for £1500 only done 80k

I know we say best to buy a 2.8 but this might be a cheap way to see if you like them

Is that a late E36 or early E46? We have the former and it's a great car.

It will never be anywhere near perfect. Ideal for a yearly driver then break to get your money back, don't think it will pass mot next year without deep pockets

I've spent £1500 on parts alone at bmw on it

Hoping my old car is not a let down

Not sure I agree with that mate. I've had a 2.8 an M and the Z4 and I still would say the Z3 2.2 is great value, sounds great, (better than the bigger 6 pots), hI as enough grunt (I know I chase them) and are usually better spec'd than 2.8s and 3.0s.. But to be fair I haven't owned one. Just my opinion.
But you always know it could be better.

Like dating the second hottest girl you could

Plus with all z3s being cheap there is absolutely no reason to buy anything under a 2.8

Grumps

Well I guess you could be rigjt but it's a bit like say don't buy a 2.8 or 3.0 buy an M instead?? It depends on budget and what you want from the car. Bumbling around at 50 mph with the roof down and having a whale of a time can be done in any zed. My point was I guess the 2.2 is a good all rounder. But agree the 2.8s are rather nice.
