I love red on silver @g8jka. That looks mint on colour combo and workmanship.

I can also vouch for the workmanship at Jack Smith's. I got a new blue roof on the 3.0 last year:thumbsup:

Mine is on a car I’m selling with a deal agreed/deposit taken. So I’m a bit reluctant to post pictures as it’s not really my car anymore.
Understand. Good luck with the sale.

I rang today and asked about the fabric: Jack Smith does use mohair. Had a good chat to the guy who answered the phone. Sounded very knowledgeable.

He told me modern pvc/vinyl material breakdowns after only 6 years. Greener but shorter life.

Now I’m not sure if he was referring to the plastic window. Or an alternative type of material for the roof. Either way that tells me 6+ years and I suspect that’s conservative.

My rear window has the ‘privacy cloudy effect’ finish (with added patina AKA scratched) it’s OEM spec I believe.

Did you have to order that clear screen at additional cost:whistle:
I noticed at the weekend when I had the hardtop off that the rear screen is starting to go a little cloudy. Been on just over 2 years now and still looks good. One small wear mark on the top where the rear bar is and the rear window is scratched. No matter how hard I've tried to keep the window pristine they scratch so easily. The wear mark seems to be a common problem, the Z3's roof could have been designed a lot better I believe.

I see wear marks on plastic rear windows as being part of the cars patina and just as we get old, we get muscle aches, scars etc, and I see my cars growing old gracefully too

If you only want, or your funds only cover a replacement window, use your old zip as the template and re attach your old zip to the new plastic. It works every time and fits back in perfectly.Alternatively, send your old window, including the zip and ask the window maker to use the zip as a template.

Just to confirm that mohair is a type of denim, nothing exotic about it, I thought it was from some sort of goat :D

Really? I had to raise and shave 200 Nepalese blue Mo’s to make my roof! I spun the twine myself =))

I’m very upset about this. I thought it was a variation of cashmere scarf fabric taken from the best long-haired mountain goats of the Pyrenees...

Soo if it is denim then, judging by fashion trends, surely a faded ripped hood one is worth 3x more than a shiny flawless new one??

Maybe that’s why the trimmers in Swansea can do them so cheap- they selling the ripped denim for triple the price after the new one is fitted
