Yes charged battery yesterday and left 6am was going great guns on the M25 near the M40 only to be met with the road being closed at that time in the morning for a terrible accident.
But we arrived at the meet still in time.
Our journey home took us 4 hours because of 2 accidents and numerous breakdowns many over heating related the Zed stayed in the middle of the temp gauge but truely a horrendous journey.
Whist driving the Zed it never goes flat it's just when it left for 6 or 7 days it goes flat.
But will hopefully get it sorted.
We did 230 miles today so a good charge might last a couple of days.
Thanks for asking Geoff.
Tracy

Glad you got there and back.
I do have problems a bit like yours, but on disconnecting boot light and turning interior light switch off and keeping it unlocked in garage the battery lasts a week or two max and then goes flat. Before I did this it went flat after a couple of days, I am thinking mine might be due to either the central locking or the alarm that is not working, so will be good to here what is up with yours. Sorry to hear you have a similar issue mines really really bad .
Like yourself we have tried what you have done plus loads more as you can read in thread.
Obviously ours is locked as its out on the street my alarm works perfectly but dont set it just locked with the key makes no difference at all.
As mentioned its one last throw of the dice for a fix.
Hope you get yours sorted but we are at a loss with ours.

I am a member of the AA are you, when I started to get the problem due to lack of use they came out and checked the electrics and found a drain that was the boot light, so bulb out made things better but quite a few members say theirs go flat after 2/3 weeks not being used. A mistry.
So if you a a member of a automobile organisation when battery goes flat get them out to check it for you for a current drain. Geoff

Z back to its old trick flat battery on Tuesday again put on charge for 25 hours trickle charger
Friday I had to bite the bullet put it into a garage full check over they can't find a drain and alternator is fine .They said battery was low gave it another 5 hours now full.
I have been using it twice a week every second week we trickle charge for 4/5 hours when possible.
Why is it going flat on my ,3rd battery in 1 year can't keep wrecking them like this.
The garage suggested a specialist electrical and hifi shop as the only slight power output was from stereo but obviously it does take power for codes anyway stumped they took fuse 9 and 44 out to see how it goes hence now no radio.
Does anyone have a solution or can please please help me as at the end of my tether
Otherwise I think it will have to go can't carry on like this.
So if anyone can please help me I would be so grateful as I have done all I can otherwise iam seriously thinking of selling it with a heavy heart .
It's had so much money spent on it and almost done but can't get to the bottom of draining.
So if any can please help let me know.
Tracy.
Sorry posted twice but I put it on wrong thread.

Sometimes problems are very simplistic
Only had bother once with mine draining.
The problem was the electric seat passenger side had been put all the way back but the switch was sticking and trying to push the seat further, motor had stopped but the power still drained. It was pure luck i found it but if you have electric seats, costs nothing to check?

A good auto electrician might be useful - even talk to one and talk them through what you have done so far in terms of troubleshooting the problem.

PS - Have you tried removing the head unit to see if the drain is related - this may have been mentioned but I didn't go back over the threads to check.

a quick question, the previous battery's - did they need replacing? you say it is wrecking the battery ( now 3 of them), there is only a small handful of reasons that a battery could be damaged in such a short period of time. are they actually wrecked? if yes this narrows it down quite considerably.
who says the battery is dead?

@Tracy Dee the offer is still open if you fancy a drive up to Lowestoft. How about next Sunday morning, then follow me over to @Shelly 's meet for tea and scones!

mine also drains if I don't drive it for 3-4 weeks. I know I should have looked at mine by now but you know the old story, cobblers shoes, plumbers taps and all that. However, and I've not mentioned before as I know another contributor has dismissed this, mine is kept topped up with a solar panel plugged into the cigar lighter socket.

The cigar socket in the Z3 is permenantly live unlike many cars. Whilst this could be a problem if anything is left plugged in, even a usb charge adaptor, it is also a bonus if you want an easy trickle charge input.

you could try one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW...8ce07f2&pid=100005&rk=1&rkt=5&sd=151222504461

Park the car generally south facing and prop the panel up in the screen.

It doesn't find the cause, but tends to solve the problem short term.

My old Z3 2.0 couldn't take 3 1/2 weeks without use. Every time I came home from Fla. the battery was as good as dead. Every day use it was fine. So I never looked further, sorry I can't help more Tracy.

Tony.

Regards battery 1 year ago the car came with a battery obviously it went flat it had 2014 stamped on it charged it 3 or 4 times assumed it was knackered changed it with a spare that I had in garage did the same thing letting me down late for work on days I needed it.
Bought a brand new one from euros last couple months in total using car twice a week and occasionally trickle charge ( not possible to trickle all time it live out in the street)
To be fair Euro checked the battery deemed to be beyond charging so they exchanged it.
Latest battery gone flat 3 times when I need the car.
3 people have looked at the car now and can't find a problem the last garage found a small discharge on stereo but assume they draw power for memory codes ect .
They took fuse no 9 and 44 out as it feeds radio to try it but yesterday I went out to shops and no wipers I have put fuse 44 back in it feeds wipers and radio.
Can't leave fuses out that feed other things.
I have been given a number of a guy that supposed to know electrical i call him today to see if he can check wires on stereo if he fits them. I don't have keys to remove unit so a hi to shop might be way.
Just don't know anymore really.
@smiffy I may have to take your kind offer but you know how it is busy long way apart but might be the only way I will let you know how I get on.
Tracy.

would it be possible to ring the garage you took it too and ask how much draw they measured from the battery?
