  • I hope that you had a good break and that the car starts. I dont seem to see on the posts exactly what the problem was only that a tracker might have been fitted that could not be located or have I missed something ?

The problem seemed to be fuse number 9 which supplies 3 things radio CD changer and amp I don't have a cd changer or an amp so @smiffy very kindly and expertly diagnosed it could only be the radio so he disconnected the radio completely .
It still had a huge drain with the radio totally disconnected he could tell you more as no expert but the metor showed 149 when everything is switch and closed up.it should be circa 29 amp max.
So it has a fault somewhere in the loom we think as nothing else is wired to fuse number 9 after a few hours of investigation. The decision was made to leave fuse 9 out and wire the radio from another source so basically fixed the issue. Once all the wires fuse box radio all put back the check on the metor was 29 so happy days.
Hope that helps .
Tracy.

Yes, Thanks. My radio is not the original type and I have no CD changer or amp so problem could be in that area !

I believe the cars are prewired for the rear CD and possibly the amp so the draw could possibly be on one or both of those sources. I would look at the CD due to the routing of the wiring as it has more potential for a break. JMHO. JIM

Wow!! What great news @ Tracy Dee! Electrics in a car can be very difficult to diagnose as you now know and can cause so much frustration that you consider selling off. Glad you hung in there till @ smiffy found the fault and eliminated it. JIM

Looks that way for now the bodywork roof and interior are pretty mint for a 20 year old car as is the engine never uses any oil quiet as a mouse runs well.
A few general wear items have been done and a couple of things still to do but nothing serious they can be done alone the way .
It's got a Fsh bills to prove every MOT from the start. So under the problem was always a decent car and find.

Just going to drive it now the drain has been sorted. :racecar:

@Shelly needs most of the credit, I still reckon the main reason for the 260 mile round trip was the offer of scones and sausage rolls!

Smiffy how do you fancy a weekend in Sunny Somerset by the sea as my Zed is like Tracey Dees lasts a bit longer, also sort out the remote and central locking ? next year ? Please let me know and maybe we can fix something up.

650 mile round trip, errrrrrrm, can I get back to you on that one @Geoff Crispin ! seriously though, my dodgy back doesn't let me do long distance driving any more.:( Hmmm, might be able to fly it next year though.

But, I'm sure we can work through it remotely, do you have a digital multimeter?
