g8jka - 2.8 Roadster Progress Journal

Awesome job Dave. Bet you're happy with that mate.

Tony.

Cheers Tony, yes very happy. Certainly brightened up the interior.

And I forgot to post about the gauges, the ones I have installed are the Prosport smoked series. They are smoked when ignition is off and once turn on do a full self calibration, the gauge takes an automatic adjustment reading within the sensor to zero the needle compensating for the correct atmospheric pressure etc, resulting in 100% accurate readings regardless of elevation or climate. They light up white and do a quick sweep then start to read. They came with the proper sensors which are better quality than the cheap ones I had before, the oil temperature one never used to move really unless the car was driven for a long time. This one works pretty quickly. I went for and oil pressure and temp gauge like before but instead of a voltage gauge this time I've fitted an air/fuel ratio gauge.

And when the lights are switched on they change to amber to match the rest of the lights.

Very nice!

Ahem. T**t!! =))=))=))

I love the attention to detail, not to much and not to little. Nailed it :D

Thanks mate, got to be careful not going too far and turning it into something that appeals to a 17 year old just getting there first car and letting them lose with a thousand pounds worth of Halfords vouchers. Saying that we've all been there at some stage =))

I was a little worried at first it's a bit too much, I was tempted to do the upper and lower section of the steering wheel or just the lower section but chose to leave it. Also could have done the armrest but again left that. I am still undecided whether to get gaiters with red stitching but the grey on the ones I have match the steering wheel and wrapped parts. I did change the badge on the steering wheel though.

:(why the disagree with my post #415 @mde2r

Sorry. I’ve got fat fingers and pressed by mistake
Thought so. You can remove it if you tap/click on 'Undo Rating'......

Love the refreshed interior! I'm undecided on the roll hoops bits but it does at least match the top of the seat!

Since I fitted my purple extended leather interior I've always thought about doing the tonneau in purple. But been too scared!

Cheers, yes the tops of roll hoops I was unsure but it's something different. Give it a try, if it goes wrong you can always dye it black again

Another 12 month ticket issued today  2 advisories though, one being the exhaust blowing slightly which I knew about. And some corrosion on the passenger side rear suspension component mounting which I'll have to check out.

I was expecting a fail as always especially after finding a leak on the power steering hose yesterday when taking the splitter off. I cleaned it up and tightened the jubilee clips which must have done the job, I'll have a check under it over the next few days to see if it's cured it. I've done less than 4000 miles in it since the last MOT in July 2019 😢

Good news Dave. Our Gary (or maybe me) wasn't quite so fortunate today. His Crafter failed on a brake pipe and Parking brake efficiency low.

Tony.

Pity Tony: it happens to the best. No doubt the pair of you will get it sort soon.

Nothing too serious and a nice, easy, straight forward fix for him hopefully. He can sit back and let you do all the work ;)

I was expecting something to be picked up with my handbrake as it needs adjusting properly, I did one side Monday morning but ran out of time so just tightened the other side up at the handbrake. Holds well enough now, one side was a bit sticky at first so needs backing off but I think it needs new cables though.

My Dad must have paid off the MOT place to get them to pass mine so he doesn't have to fix it. Going to have to find some other jobs for him now.

I can see the problem......the badge should be blue and white......
