I've known of several of these being used in Canada year round over the years particularly in street rods with no detrimental effects. I think you're best to buy the best quality made in America piece as the Asian products do rattle! As for seizing it's usually due to lack of use and care. Good luck, JIM

Good to hear some are built to last, wouldn't happen to know the names of those one Jim?

The complaints are for the American made ones, big names like QTP and some others I've forgotten now. Of course people shout louder about problems but it's quite mixed reviews with many saying never again.

Agree to avoid China made versions.
I've found a UK supplier not too far away with a nice looking version, would like to pop in and see them when I get a chance and chat it over and look at the build.

Sorry, been a while since we used them in our drag cars. I don't know if they still make them but there were some that were cable controlled with no motor which seemed to work better. The problems usually were due to carbon build up which didn't allow the flap to close properly and needed periodic cleaning. We used to check them while we we doing oil changes and only took a few minutes to clean with a small stiff brush. Seems to me that the best were machined stainless. With the ECU controlling the injectors you shouldn't get as much carbon build up as we did with carbs on tunnel ram set ups. Checking the build quality out in the UK sounds like the way to go or maybe some of our American friends can add some further info? JIM
