I paid £550 for the system, from Manifold back, Full system, they used the old cat but I never got around to changing it to a sports cat as I intended)

Sounds Nice though not too loud: Lovely Popping sound as you lift off.

Thanks Jim, only just got to listen to it. Sounds lovely. Shame you've sold it. :(Just waiting for a quote back from them. Nearest depot for me is Leeds.

Finally decided to go for a Power flow exhaust,It's being fitted at Mr Tyre tomorrow (Notts). Any advise please on what sort of noise/tone to go for as apparently it can be altered to suit. I know it's down to personal preference in the end,but i don't want too loud. Is it worth keeping the one that's coming off the car ?

You'll be the best gudge of that Steve, ask them if you can try it first, I had two before I decided, you'll probably not be sure unless you go for a drive in it, bit of a pain for the fitter but you don't want to end up with a drone you can't live with. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Roy.

I would say make a choice and then go 1 quieter. As Roy says a loud one on a long run would drive you nuts and spoil the car that you enjoy. I don't think I would want one very much louder than the original.

Tony.

ps. That reminds me of some info I was given yesterday re the next stage of M.O.T. emission testing.

That was realy good of them to let you try them 1st,not sure i'l get the same service tbh but i'l ask. I like the look of the tail pipes on your Z :). It's that drone noise i realy don't want, got some long trips planned,Just want that lovely rasp amplified and a popping effect on the over run :D.

Do you want something to improve performance and make it sound nice or something that shouts "look at me". Hope you get what you want Steve and I get to have a listen in the future.:):)

My original one is really quiet even at higher revs though you can hear it better with the roof up as there's no wind noise. Advise noted and appreciated

It's not more performance i'm after cus it's ok for me as it is . Don't want the boy racer effect either. Guess it's hard to pinpoint,i like that burbling sound at lower revs though :). I'l have to have a ride over your way some time after it's done ;)

Don't get either of those on mine Steve, just a bit deeper growl more like original m3 exhaust, when they fitted mine they hadn't done more than about 3 others and were keen to see what they could achieve with different sliencers, did give the fitter a good drink though, oh the tail pipes are Power Flow and my choice, hope they still do em for you, the only problem I've had is the tails moving over to the N/S ( which is natural on a straight six BMW ) so you might ask the fitter if it's likely to move enough to burn the bumper cutout which it did on mine, maybe they can compensate for this when fitting. Good luck Roy.

Cheers for the tip on the tail pipes moving i'l mention it tomorrow to them. Now you've said you don't get either of the things I'm after on your exhaust i'm having 2nd thoughts  could just get some tail pipe trims to tidy it up for 40 quid :meh:

My Supersprint cat back pops and crackles brilliantly.
It's very bassy at low revs and M3 like rasp at high revs.
Has gotten better with age too I think, been on the car 5yrs and about 30k + miles.

Just remember all these exhausts sound better when they get nice and hot, sometimes they can sound a bit tame from cold making you think it's too soft but when it heats up the volume and tone improves.

could just get some tail pipe trims
Does your original tailpipes have any tips on at all Steve. Mine had some gloss black ones one from new. I changed them 2 years ago for some chrome ones. I would be happy to send you them to see if that would improve the looks, I don't need anything for them.

Tony.

No mate they were painted mat black when i got the car so i removed as much of it as i could to expose the shiny steel but it's pitted and scratched so doesn't look too good close up,i know you had some chrome trims to fit them but i left it too late and unfortunately you'd sent them back to U.S.A:(. A very kind offer re gloss black trims,if i haven't got any thing sorted by the 13th september i'l have a gander at them if thats ok Tony ? :)

Definitely Steve, you'd be welcome to them. Recently having the top down on my car coming home from work in sport mode I like the sound of my car, even with a "slush" box.:)

Tony.

When I was looking I passed a few emails with "Longline". They offer 3 different tones. Standard pipe, Aston Martin V8 and TVR Griffith. He Said over 90% go for the middle option and are very happy with it as it gives a nice tone when under power but it's not to much of a drone when cruising.
