Great to see some progress for you Gary. If you get to do a lot of other necessary jobs while it's apart, it will set you in good stead for the future. Keep up the good work mate. See you back on the road mate.
unless I have missed something we still don't know where all that oil came out.
I was messing with my z a few weeks back, a few seconds after I started it there was a horrendous noise, I s*** my pants, lifted the bonnet and I had left the cap off, must have been some sort of vacuum noise.Probably left the cap off like @N4LLY did the other day Mike......![]()
Good work Ratty me old mate, that means you will have it back together in no time and come over here for next years Limborit again.

Good news potentially.
Can you see the point on the gasket where it has failed

, where did you start with the clean up Dave?
Mmmm whilst you in there and all that...port and polish head, high lift can, bore out cylinders...
Oh as you have the manifold off might as well do the M50 intake...or supercharger?
Nice to hear it's all clean in there, what's the mileage?
It is not looking too bad at this stage but unless I have missed something we still don't know where all that oil came out. There was certainly a lot of it when we stopped.
Good news so far Gary, would it be best to have the head skimmed while you've got it off just to be sure. can you check to see if any of the piston rings have broken ?
Is it near to where the pressured oil feed passes from the block to head Garry?
Tony.
ps. Glad to hear you're making some progress mate.
Mike, I'll be there even if I've gotta get me bike out
And magnafluxed in case of hairline cracks??That’s potentially good news, so it was just head gasket failure? I was wondering due to the reported oil loss at the scene.
Would it be worth while to have the head blue printed to check 100% on a possible warp?
