Hello all,
So…a further update on my Ecu airbag for my 1.8 1999 BMW Z:
I would like some help fixing a ‘38. 03’ diagnosis from my BMW SRS b800 (I think) rest tool.
After pulling out my radio to upgrade it, I stupidly forgot to disconnect the battery and lo and behold, as I gently pulled out my stock radio, the red airbag light went on.
I have tried disconnecting the battery and waiting.
Removed and replaced the Ecu.
I still get the list 38, error number 03: “Supply voltage”

So, I assume the unit remains ok but there,s something wrong with the electrica supply..??

Can anyone please help…I’m hoping it’s a quick fix if you know what you’re doing (isn’t everythin?)

Many thank,
Nat

Have you disturbed a cable that was plugged into the airbag unit, or had something touch somewhere that has blown the airbag fuse. I would check both of those first

Yes Pete…this is what I’m thinking too.
where is the airbag fuse…is it in the main fuse box in the engine bay?

Thank you.
I managed to get a new INPA installed on my computer and have since cleared the light 👍

Ahhh...The dreaded airbag light has come on again! Just flickered on and stayed. I tried the D800 but to no avail. That read page 38 error 3 (which I believe is insufficient voltage) BUT upon using my INPA software I got the following pictures..
Can anyone please tell me how to find this problem and fix it.
Many thanks

The belt tensioner is connected to the seat belt. There is a wire & connector under the seat. Oftentimes the connector comes loose over time and will trigger an error in the airbag module. You can try to disconnect the connector and clean/reconnect. You can also solder the wires; when taking out the seat at a later time, you will have to cut and resolder the wire.... but it will ensure proper connection in the meantime.
