Paul, I found a cracking route this year, up the A1 and take the Bedale turn off and stay on the A684 all the way accross to Kendall, its accross the Dales all the way

Agree the road over to Hawes and onto towards Kendal is the route i will be taking and if i have time i might stop off at Hawes as there are some nice Cafes

Yes we stopped there earlier this year, ecellent place, cant remeber the name of it

@Grumps, Hi Dave, I would be interested to know what route you would take from your place over to Grangeover. I've been up via the M6 many times, but I don't really like it although it's my quickest route from here near Derby. Do you go up the M1 then across towards the A65 ?

Erm in the car Ken i'd need to look but lorry wise I use the A1 then A66 to Penrith and straight over the M6 towards the lakes.

Thanks for the route ideas chaps. I'll have a look, but think I'll do one of the A1 to Harrogate area and across the Dales routes. Don't want to be on busy motorways all the time.

As this looks like a very popular event, what are the chances of dividing the group into two and booking another hotel? just a thought and I do know it’s very difficult to get people to organise! I don’t know the Lake District so I can’t volunteer!

As the Friday is a bank holiday I’m thinking of a scenic drive up through Derbyshire Peak District, then through the Yorkshire Dales and over to the hotel by Windermere.
