Looking the dog's doodahs I think. Great retro colour I must say. Reminds me of a Princess Vanden Plas my Dad used to have. (And I don't mean that leyland monstrosity)

Tony, tail lights are Mk1 MGB base, chrome surround, and top half (the orange indicator lens), with a 3D printed bottom red lens (which gets rid of the big ugly square lump that B's had)

HELP PLEASE....fitted the door handles to my car and got them both working perfectly....lovely.

Then I thought I had better check that the central locking still works.

Plipper works fine, both door locks sound as if they open and close as normal, the silver lock pulls on both doors go up and down.....BUT THE DOORS REMAIN LOCKED

I have heard before that if the battery has gone flat and the alarm was on, that something like this can happen.

DOES ANYONE NOW HOW I CAN RESET THE DAMN THING....got MOT next Friday and I can't be doing with this.

I have the old brick style remote, and I did leave a window down so not totally stuck for getting to the inside.

URGENT HELP REQUIRED PLEASE

Funnily enough was having a conversation with @t-tony last night about this @Grumpy
When I let my battery die and my CL went down, I checked on the web.
Could not be assed to strip out the glove box to get to the module so just used my keys, like in the old days.

Oh, that also meant I could dump those bloody great brick remotes.
OK, no alarm anymore but I have never heard of a Z3 getting nicked.

does this mean I will have to do this every time I disconnect the battery.
Not sure to be honest, as I never bothered re-setting mine.
I had left my car standing for five weeks and the battery was completely dead.

OK Thanks @hard top ....but does this mean I will have to do this every time I disconnect the battery....because I am looking to change the steering wheel which means a disconnect to let the air bag dissipate it's charge.

I'm on my head in the passenger well....don't want to keep doing this :(
I've had my battery disconnected plenty of times and not had this issue.
Unless yours is a liter model and has a different controller? Mines a Jan 98.
Seems a strange thing for it to do, can't be by design I'd have thought

OK sorted the locking issue. The new door mechanism was holding the old mech off the switch on the body, not fully sorted yet but at least I know what it is......... and can get the doors open.

Problems with the wipers now....I am not catching any breaks lately :(

OK, wipers fixed, the nut had come of the drive motor....a right PITA to get to, but managed with an open ended crows-foot on a long extension.

Wipers now work a treat and the motor is rock steady, instead of twisting all over the place.

Washers fitted (wrong way round to start with) and working well....after adjustment (when I think I got wetter than the windscreen)

Fitted the door mirror, which sounds easy but, due to the door being over-skinned, was a real trial...took me a whole day just to get two nuts done up...and cost me some more arm flesh...still sorted now.

Fitted number plates tonight ....MOT in the morning ... keep your fingers crossed for me ... if it passes, new hood fit on Thursday ... if not everything goes on hold.

Oh and the spotlight that would not work.....bulb.....fixed.

Good luck with the MOT and glad the wipers were just a nut problem. Oh, we haven't had a good nut thread for quite some time, wonder why??
