I’m looking at getting some Lotus White leather sleeves for my regular roll bars. That’s my own preference for glamming this area up.
Nope, don't like bling.Have the doubters ever inspected or fitted a set of these roll bars?
ummm, now there's an idea, could even have them embroidered too.I’m looking at getting some Lotus White leather sleeves for my regular roll bars. That’s my own preference for glamming this area up.
What do they fit too, do you drill the plastic top, nope
I had this argument every time I posted a picture of my Z3 Tony. I got sick of it in the end. My usual final post went along the lines of, " They have to give more protection than nothing at all, and, I have never rolled a car in 44 years and don't intend to start now!"I have a set of these fitted and they are immensely strong, If you bounce hard enough to break these the occupants are going to be in no state to care.
They fit in the original pair of outer OEM mounts Sean. What do they fit too, do you drill the plastic top,
I'm still a bit confused pal, by the looks of them the outer part goes through the plastic, I'm not fussed about strength but this option will save me a shed load of cash and they look greatThey fit in the original pair of outer OEM mounts Sean.
Tony.
Sorry Sean, not enough info . I didn't realise you were considering a set of these style bars. Yes you do have to cut a hole in the top of the tower cover plastic, I did on mine. You get two thick rubber rings to sit on top of the plastic when they're fitted like the original type have.I'm still a bit confused pal, by the looks of them the outer part goes through the plastic, I'm not fussed about strength but this option will save me a shed load of cash and they look great
Thanks for that pal, so I assume the outer sleeves are in placeSorry Sean, not enough info . I didn't realise you were considering a set of these style bars. It took me nearly all day to fit mine as I was working on my own. I borrowed a drum sander to "clean" out the mounting tubes to allow the bar to slide in. I could get both to slip in on their won but not both together. I ended up waiting till late Sunday evening when our Gary came home. I had prepared by putting a ratchet strap across the outer hoops and nippng them together then pulling down with all my strength while Gary smacked the top of the hoop with a big lump hammer and a block of wood on the steel.
These things are far, far stronger than people realise. You'll see if you get some.

Hope these pictures help.
Tony.
I understand that the outer tubes are on every car mate ( bear in mind my Z3 was a 2000 model) it was just the inner mounts that you need for the factory fit roll bars. Thanks for that pal, so I assume the outer sleeves are in place
Thanks again dude, got it now, I aint to worried about strengthI understand that the outer tubes are on every car mate ( bear in mind my Z3 was a 2000 model) it was just the inner mounts that you need for the factory fit roll bars.
Tony.
ps. AND, before anyone bothers to get on their high horse to explain that these "Show Hoops" are not as strong as the REAL roll bars I do not refute that, but as I have stated many times we don't all have bottomless pockets.
and you took that bash on the head when you rolled your car. Thanks Jason, it's been so long since I fitted mine the holes in the plastic could have been there also.
Tony.
yeh me tooIt's been a long time since I rolled in a car
Think this should be the subject of a new thread. It's been a long time since I rolled in a car
