If I could arrange to drop off Martin’s canister strap, pick up the engine support and then pick up the bits that Andy has for me in the same trip … then that would be a good day out 😂

Another step forward today…..
A bit of welding …. Not by me though =))
Set up the exhaust on the car, and held the bracket in position so it could get a couple if tack welds done.
Then removed it and finished off the weld on the floor.

E1EC24EB-88B9-41DA-AF8D-BEF0BF96EEA4.jpeg

Few bits to do before it can be refitted…. One of which is a trip up to see Andy to collect a heat shield, which has to be installed first:banghead:

And 5 plug welds later….
F99890D7-95FC-4EBC-9673-FD5AD9EC2F9C.jpeg

I had to hold a rag soaked in cold water against the panel while it was welded… this stopped any damage to the paintwork on the wing.

The rear wing now ready to be assembled after a careful bit of grinding, cleaning and painting
And a bit different from a week or so ago

The lower edges of the sills being primed and painted.

And No!!! Even I’m not dopey enough to use rattle cans indoors:whistle:=))
They are just drying after a coat of zinc primer

The exhaust will be heat paint sprayed… Then a lot of reassembly can be done….

And I only noticed today that the metal goblins have been as all the old wings and other scrap metal has gone.
Saves me the hassle if getting rid of it….
The old Bonnet will left out for them in the next day or so.

onwards and upwards:)

Been thinking Malc - I don’t actually like the colour - can you re-spray it Red with the Starsky and Hutch white strip down the sides for me - would be better 👍

Saturday should be breakfast baguette day but stuff needed doing round the house, so decided to set up all the spraying…. And go backwards and forward doing the house stuff while waiting for the various coats to dry.

4 hours later , house clean ( well bloke type cleaning  ) grass cut , washing done ….but more importantly….
Rear Wing sorted - welds ground down, zinc primer and top coat

happy with those and just as well as sold my new set =))

Removed the back box and sprayed the pipe and the connection piece

And made the use of my stepson and lifted off the old bonnet and put it outside. ( wont be there long=)))

Looks ok at first glance but lacquer peeling and rust eating the sides and front.

Made two canister straps …. And before anyone asks… both ‘sold’

Took about an hour on the first one and about 35 mins on the second.
But I did have a original to copy which made it a lot easier.

The old bonnet.

We should start a sweep stake how long this takes to vanish.

My guess is 3 days.

Nothing planned for today ….so….

the socket was the correct radius for the bends so that was quite lucky
And the steel bar keeping the material straight is actually my fan removal spanner

You were close @Lee 4 days !!

The metal goblins arrived this morning…. Didn’t knock , stopped their van, jumped out and one of them tried pick it up…. But had to get his mate to help….. =)) =)) =))

heavier than he thought !!!!

Still saved me the hassle of cutting it up and taking it to the tip.

I was hoping to have lots to put on here today …..
On saturday collected a replacement Radiator and the front heat shield from Andy, then over to Basingstoke for breakfast… on to Zedshed to pick up the last Z3M tank strap set from Lee, also dropped off some bits ….. as usual did bugger all , other that talk and slow every else down.. sorry Paul , but a bit of help and guidance received from Lee, which will result in more work to do on mine :arghh:…. But better to do it now rather than later ….
As in engine mounts to be replaced!!

So fully armed ready for a Monday morning blitz……. First job… fit the heat shield…. Thats when it all stopped….….. forgot the get the fixings to hold it in=))=))=))=))

Now ordered and picking up in the morning at 8am, Then drop the last Z3M set off in the post at 9am….. then I will get on with doing what I should have been doing today…

Had an early run out to collect these….
515A46DD-F94D-43A3-A307-00788E624695.jpeg

Dropped off the parcel at the post office and got home just in time to receive a parcel….
Heated Seat Pads arrived about 2 weeks early :)

6E7CD849-8BC2-4106-8EA2-7AD68FED9F6A.jpeg

and all I will use of the wiring that comes with it……is this bit
CDB4768F-472C-4308-A7AC-08726F2AB2DD.jpeg

the 4 way connector and about 6 inches of the wiring.
Everything else is already in the car.

Also in the post was a letter asking me to donate £100 to the Surrey Police ….. but they have given me 3 points. ( I assume there is a catalogue that you can chose stuff from when you gave enough points ???)

Should have got on with the 2.8 but had a @andyglym moment :arghh::arghh::arghh: and decided to wash the Kia and the 1.9 instead.

Then having cleaned them I cleared one of the advises in the last MOT for the 1.9

Headlights deteriated and output poor ( on limit)
Not now they’re not
55BFA437-5055-4421-AA7C-DE912ADB4774.jpeg

Just used Tcut to clean them.
To be fair they were pretty bad:whistle:
Could have got on with the 2.8 after all that but went out for a drive and a coffee instead.:)
