Guys and Gals

As I have not received any further Questions I went ahead and submitted the ones I had and I post both the Questions and replies together here below. As you will see by the reply I am not going to drop the person I am talking to into the brown stuff but he is definitely trying to help us have a great time!

let me have your thoughts please.

Can we bring disposable BBQ's with us so that being there all day while we are lined up for the Entertainment we can BBQ together (obviously safely) Or should be ok. It’s the sort of question you don’t ask up front! looks like a result to me

Could we get an area and book a Hogg roast firm ourselves etc? we do not know the form at Silverstone. All catering is by Aspire on site So That is a NO as far as I read it

Can we leave cars in the "infield" overnight and get a taxi back to the hotel and back in the next day or if we arranged a bus back to the hotel so that we could have a beer or two at the entertainment? Cars can be left on their display areas over night at their owners risk. Many cars are indeed left over night each year.

The Followup to 2 above is "is there a time we have to have the cars away as a number of us plan to enjoy the entertainment?" cars can be left overnight on the club’s display area

Myredzed,

I have now managed to get my mate sorted so he can bring my Z3 along. He bought the tickets on Sunday, so will definitely be attending with his other half.

So you can add SilverZ3 - Z3 2.0 to the list.

Will be good to have both my Zeds there now! :D

We're only going on Saturday and driving down from near Leicester in the morning so what time is everybody planning on getting to Silverstone.

Brian, we have a couple of cars meeting us at the hotel Saturday morning to join the cruise to the track. You are more than welcome to join us, if you don't mind the extra driving that is!

Just in case your not aware the infield VIP car passes mean that you have to be in place by 9:30 officially. we are all arriving in a block from the hotel. and will probably leave around 9:00 but final details have not yet been discussed till nearer the time. (I have been picked up on my 9:00 prediction of leaving the hotel as the google maps directions say 32 to 36 minutes and that does not include the potential traffic. I do agree and will start the contact with both the organisers and Police to check the route because of the roads on the route they change to one way.)

-IMPORTANT-

Silverstone have advised the club that ALL drivers participating in the parade lap MUST show their driving licence. Don't forget to bring yours!

Didn't know whether the full lineup had been posted anywhere :-\

This year’s star-studded line-up is every bit as impressive. To get everybody in the right party mood the concerts kick off as the sun goes down on Friday evening with the Taking Care of Elvis Show, rated as one of the best tributes to the ‘King’, Elvis Presley. Next up is Roy G Hemmings’ Motown Show. Hemmings was an original member of the legendary Drifters and is celebrating 50 years of Motown by performing many of those unforgettable chart-topping hits from the likes of The Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Friday’s festivities culminate with Mike & Mechanics, fronted by Mike Rutherford, a founding member of ‘prog rock’ giant Genesis. The band now includes Nineties chart topper Andrew Roachford.

Saturday’s line-up is every bit as dazzling. Eighties pop star Adam Ant tops the bill, which also features Snakecharmer – a twin guitar supergroup formed by ex-members of Whitesnake – and the Bogus Brothers, one of Europe’s top party bands.

In addition, the exciting new AA World automotive theme park will boast its own live music shows, while the all-female Tetra Electra Quartet will perform amplified arrangements of classical favourites on Sunday afternoon.

Portable Bbq's to the ready in the cars? :bulb Works for me. Lol :beer :beer :beer

Oh and from my experience at the F1 last year bring a colaspable chair so you have something to sit on the bands at last years F1 where great but I had been on my feet so long by the end of the day I had to leave earlier than I would have liked and I was camping!

To be honest I am so looking forward to the convoy On Saturday morning from the hotel that I do not want to leave my car there overnight Friday night. We could be 40 cars in the convoy which when you know that at last years event BMWCCGB only had a total of 60 cars on the busiest day shows how well we have done! they are already thinking about if they may try and do a followup next year it has been such a success in terms of take-up.

I have more details to post tonight so watch this space! :D :ymhug:

Today I spoke to the BMWCCGB organiser after I heard from the Silvertone Goose co-ordinator. That sounds weird but Goose are responsible for the Event at Silverstone but once we arrive on the site then we come under the BMWCCGB so as I was trying to find out what will happen after we arrive I needed to go back to the BMWCCGB. I spoke to the Organiser while he was at Goodwood so I am afraid that the conversation was a little difficult but I did manage to get the gist of what he was saying.

When we arrive at the main Car club Entrance which is into Car park 49 off the Dadford Rd just before the Main Gate Roadway At this point we will be subject to Security Checks and ticket Validation Etc. Once we are individually through that we then carry on as directed and after about 50 to 60 yards on the right there will be a BMW roundel with an arrow pointing right that is the direction we have to go from there we will be directed by marshals in high viz jackets. The marshals will direct us to areas for each of the models Z1's, Z3's, Z3M coupes, Z4's, and Z8's so the intention is to keep the Zeds in Model "families". it would appear that the numbers are so far 250+ Zeds and in all some 365 BMW's on the day. One Snippet that I was given was that last year on the busiest day of the Silverstone classic weekend there were a total of 60 BMW cars displaying. we look like having close to 40 coming in convoy! They are however starting to talk about this as an inaugural event as they are very pleased with the response.

I am also posting details of the trip from the Hotel to the track on the Horwood house thread so if your interested in hooking up please take a look over there. Oh and it has been suggested that I start a new thread for the route and timing of leaving and arriving so that people who are not staying at the hotel can try and arrange to hook up with us enroute like Snoops and Wildeboy and some other who I think Live in the area so that they can decide if they want to meet up at the hotel or on the way.
