What size tyres are you running on the back ? I'm on 255/18
Mine are on 245/18 rear and 225/18 fronts. The fronts are sitting bang in line with the arches without spacers but I have a small roll on the tyre exposing the rim which I don't like but while I've got a good complete set of falcons on i'll live with it and address it when I'm due a tyre change.

Those spacers look odd. Cant see how they are 100% stable. If you like those studs hack engineering does them for £110 for the set with a choice of colour.

Well I'm pleased to report the spacers have been on almost a week now. Done 200 miles over Thursday and Friday, re-torqued twice and no movement on the bolts at all. All appears to be sound. :)

I personally prefer them to bolt they seem to stabilize more easily on the wheel. JIM
Just looking at the studs and think they will chew up the bolt holes in the wheel as you slide the wheel on and off thus chipping the paint and letting corrosion take over...so no good for us 'fancy wheels' types, especially after mine get a refurb...
Will stick with he BMW alignment pin and bolts...
Really like the studs though especially with these extended nuts from Hack engineering:

No none. But I don't drive hard to be fair and I have a chassis and strut brace so the car is very tight anyway.

I don't believe there is any make of car sold in NA other than European imports that haven't got studs. This dates back to the modelT and every brand since 1903. And we also have hi tech wheels available as stock and aftermarket items just as in the UK. Never have I come across the problems you mention, this after owning many hundred cars used as well as new. But you need to do what you believe in and I can respect that. JIM

Hi Brian,
How do you manage to slide the rims over the studs without chipping away at the finish?
I really would like studs but am going refurb my 18's and don't want to damage them.

I'll also run different spacers depending on when I run 17's or 18's so the the the studs will be great.

Which length do you have Brian?

I have a mixed set @Dino D, shorter front, longer rear, I'll look at the lengths tomorrow.

I also have refurbed wheels and no issues with paint chipping etc. when putting wheels on/off remember that the studs are protruding through a recessed area where the nuts tighten on to.

Thanks for that Brian, can I ask for some pics of how far the protrude when the wheels are bolted in and if your run spacers?

On my 18s the finish was not very durable so the slightest chip in the area of the bolts caused flaking of the paint which spread.
The new finish should be much better and less prone to this...
Not so much an issue in the style 78's which are powder coated from the factory I think.

Ps hope the rear end work is going well.
You'll be very pleased once the rear beam bushes are in!

Just had a proper look inside where the bolts go through the rim and I see what you mean Brian, it should only touch on the bit that protrudes and is meant to come in contact with the bolts/studs and nuts thus actually minimizing any contact with painted surfaces that can happen when using bolts.

Will need to measure up and get some ordered.
Will have to be the 90mm for the rear which will allow the 20mm spacer I need when using the style 78's, need to check on fronts not sure what spacer needed there yet..
