Lewis Hamilton Chinese Grand Prix hat-trick ended in confusion as official waved chequered flag a lap too soon.
In the land of the rip-off it was only natural the sport was given a fake finish thanks to a dozy official - and it certainly confused Lewis.
  • Official makes blunder
It is the best fake China has ever seen. And the locals here should know. Lewis Hamilton charged to an historic Shanghai hat-trick only to see his moment of glory lost in a chaotic flag blunder, .
"I thought I was starting my last lap, glanced up and saw something waving and realised it was the chequered flag,"
"It was very strange. I was thinking, 'Am I seeing things?'
"I slowed but the team said, 'No, no, keep going'.
"If the radio had failed, I had slowed and Nico came past, that would have really sucked. Thank God, it didn't."
Stewards then wiped another lap from history and decided the race was over after 54 laps.

That would be a nice mod for next year: a maximum number of people working at the car during a pitstop :)
I think I'm right in saying the number of mechanics are limited in the pit lane in some of the American series, but I suppose if all teams have the same it's fair enough, and let's face it they still f.....k up now and again!

I would like the option where the driver needs to get out of the car, pick up the wheels from the box and replace them one by one himself :)

I would like to see the drivers stopping to fill up the tank with a hand pump then clean their own windscreen, check the oil and water, walk around kicking the tires and then pay for the fuel with their own credit card........;)

  1. 13:05:
    CRASH!
Pastor Maldonado sticks it in the wall on the exit of Turn Three. The man has racked up quite a repair bill since joining Lotus.
  2. 13:10:

Here's the moment of impact. Ouch.
  3. Russ Williams: Has Pastor Maldonado cost Lotus more in broken cars than he's brought in from sponsorship revenue?
Ben Silveston: Wonder if Maldonado is now regretting having number 13 on his car?
Paul Holland: Maldonado's made a proper mess of that. His mechanics will be happy!

FORMULA 1 ISN'T BORING.
  1. 12:30:
The pit lane has opened its doors, which means we're only 30 minutes away from the start of the formation laps. Lots of drivers are doing practice starts at the end of the pit lane before heading round to take up their starting spot.

Jeremiah Kariuki - Maldonado is proving to be a master of crashing!
Ibraheem Khan - Oh look, Crashtor Maldonado hit someone. Never seen that before
Danny Palmer - A handful of laps in and Maldonado has already hit someone. Nobody is shocked.
  2. Steven Swanborough - Watching the F1 and loving the terms used... My back end is all over the place.
  3. Rob - Formula 1 is becoming boring again. It's called a race, but the drivers can't actually race each other? Becoming a bit farcical
  4. Pitesh - Good race so far, but not great. Pretty sure this race won't go down as a classic.
  5. Nick Phillips - I was really hoping we'd see a lot more action this but I'm almost falling asleep.
  6. Sam Seddon - So Mercedes tell Hamilton to pull out 4 seconds, then lose him 2.3 in the stops. Well done Mercedes!
  7. Dan Naylor - Hamilton is just a stroppy child isn't he?Neil Denham: Lewis should have his own radio show. His comments are more entertaining than the race.
  8. Richard Anthony: Lewis and his engineer are like a bickering old couple, hope they kiss and make up later!
  9. Steve: Hate to say it but think Rosberg could beat Lewis!

The Fantasy GP results are in for Spain - how did you do?

Vettel scored loads of bonus points, and even Maldonado got a few. Fastest lap went to Vettel, not many predicted that.

At this point in the season so far Mercedes are the best value team (points for money) and BOTTAS is the best value driver.
