Any Vegans on here

We have a mixture of teeth types, incisors and molars. Most meat eaters have incisors for cutting/tearing meat where as herbivores tend not to. Chimp, our nearest animal.relatives, are mostly vegetarians but are known to kill and eat monkeys now and again.

Tony.
Thats a very good point about chimps Tony, they do tend to kill and eat other monkies, for some reason only at the beginning of the rainy season and they are equiped with the sane teeth as us which woukld suggest that early humans only ate meat very occasiionally, the length of our gut suggests that we are set up better to eat veg

True, but it's proven we can survive with less than we have when people lose a lot through illness. Amazing how species have evolved through time and have kept things they don't need, like our Appendics for instance.

Tony.

It's certainly not for me but if it helps with Molly's condition it will be worthwhile.

We live on a farm and meat is our business but my sister was vegetarian for a while and Sarah is not really a big meat fan in fact when we were in Vietnam the meat was so fresh and strong she was vegetarian lol back to normal now .I just wonder how the Inuit people in the artic would survive on veg and even the nomadic peoples of Mongolia and other such remote and areas not conclusive to gardening a wide variety of fruits ,vegetables, nuts, grains and pulses.I have to say nowadays it’s much easier to live on a meat free diet as we import such a variety of foods from all over the world. Albeit with air miles included.

I could do vegetarian and fish only.

Im interested to understand why vegan vs vegetarian- I get that meat is a problem but I would have thought vegetarian vs vegan is not such a big difference?

Leather products, shoes, car interiors etc etc.

Will be made easier with you doing it as a family. Hope you all get the health gains you hope for.

A very good friend of mine can eat no dairy or wheat well most ground grains as he developes terrible pains is violently ill and laid up for a while. My pet theory is the chemicals in sprays they use in growing and preserving foods .ive noticed but have no evidence to support it but where food is grown naturally and eat locally people seem to suffer less from allergies mind you it could be a load of crap, but it’s a nice idea.

Also probably near to the mark too.

Watch the game changers on Netflix pal, it's a real eye opener, some of the worlds best athletes are vegan

Lol now you’ve got me going I really hate these people going on about there’s to much health and safety you and me have probably survived one of the most dangerous times the chemicals I’ve been exposed to is almost criminal and it’s no surprise to me that I’ve developed cancer the farmers and labourers of my dads generation were missing limbs and maimed horribly the lung diseases they developed and died young from it is in at least the teens the No of farmers I know have died from machinery accidents.I was watching Fred Dibner on telly the other day what a character but man was he lucky to survive so many didn’t and just because he got away with it doesn’t make it right.I was talking to one of the electric linesmen the other day and they have really good systems in place but he lost one of his workmates from a mistake.Luckily my children’s work will be a much safer place Ioan sits in on an air sprung seat in an air conditioned quiet tractor cab,I’m deaf ,half choked and arthritic from sitting on a wet paper sack next to a black exhaust in all weathers;)

Never thought I would be saying such things but as of Monday we as a family are going vegan, now this is coming from a northerner that loves nothing more then a plate full of meat 3 times a day and I have always thought of vegans as a bunch of limp wristed lefties, ;)
We are doing it purely for health reasons, nothing to do with climate change and methane, :).
It all started with a Netflix programme called Game changers, it's an eye opener and well worth a watch.

I’m vegetarian, have been for 24 years now :p
I can’t say I’m vegan , but their as a lot of foods I don’t eat ;)
I eat some dairy but not all :)
No more Haribo,s or chew sweets ;)
Remember to take some supplements, and read labels on foods as you do get hidden ingredients :)
Also some alcohols are not vegetarian :)
I used to buy Rocked dog shoes/boots as they are vegetarian/vegan ;)
I must admit I have got a couple of pairs of leather boots :(
24 years ago it was quite hard to be vegetarian, but now it’s quite easy as their are more foods about .:)
Hope you all get on ok , I could never go back and eat meat again , :)

I went to school with two lads from Marton (next village, where I'm from) their dad was a farmer of sorts but he still had a tractor and some gang mowers and he cut several local school playing fields etc. After I'd started work in the early to mid 70's I would be driving home in my Mini and I would pass old Harold in the p****** rain driving his ancient Massey -Ferguson 65, no cab (or even roll bar as an owner driver) wearing his old army great coat with the collar turned right up, no hat and leaning on the rear mudguard hunched down against the wind and rain.
He barely made it to 60.

Tony.

I totally respect your decision to help Molly with her illness mate but I couldn't survive without meat. I'm the fussiest of eaters and would struggle to get through a couple of days without repeating meals. I hardly eat any vegetables other than peas, carrots and sweetcorn. (No greens at all)
One of Jues cousins has been veggie for years and has recently switched to vegan and she's loving it. Good luck with it mate.

Just remembered @Sean d ........ :p
If you go to a chip shop remember to ask what they cook in :)
Because some use beef dripping :(

Vegans? Wasnt Spock the last one?

Sensible balanced diet for me with plenty of fruit and veg. Not sure that science has found conclusive evidence to support a total vegan diet being superior.
