1999 Z3 2.8 winter project

Handbrake cables I got from Sopers weren’t much over £25 with forum discount. Lots of choices for poly bushes but costing a bit more than oem ones.

was that each or for the pair?

That was for the pair.

wow, did well there,
not sure how you wrangled that one,
Soper's just quoted me £22 each with forum discount, and when I said you had them £25 for the pair, he laughed and asked how long ago was that?
Best he said he could do was £19.98 each

Good man Tony. Appreciate it.

I've them polished up as well as they can get. Should piece together quite nicely bar the one which needs a cap replacement.

Cheers,
Andrew

and to top it all Sopers just phoned me to say they are too big for Royal Mail !! and so postage is £16 on top, so I declined,

off to eBay to seller BMW_Direct at £23 per cable

My pair of cables would have come in at £56 from Sopers

Cv grease arrived today tony. Good man. Thatll get most of them back together thsi week 👌

Taking a break from her for a while. Might just pitter about abit with waxoil and fit the new rear shocks.

Gonna hit the road running in the new year. Build a shopping basket and have it sitting for putting back together hopefully by end of feb/early march.

Cant wait to take her for a run. Still debating whether or not to get her resprayed or not. Yet to get a price but will start asking around in the new year

There should be enough grease there to build 4 joints Andrew. They normally supply 1 sachet with a new boot. If you over pack them they will leak it out.

Beem quiet since before christmas. Life getting in the way. To avoid it sitting too long and me not having motivation to continue later on i thought best roll the sleeves up and do something.

Got stuck in with the dremel and wire wheel amd started rust removal. Once was happy with the result primed and sprayed.

Is getting to the "finishing" stage which is nice to see.

Soon the cheque book is going to have to make another few appearances

@Mazza hope you still have a few of those fuel straps left in a few weeks 😎😅

Some shopping arrived yesterday

Mechanic also got a we kick, to get the bushes and bearings removed to finally get the rear sub and trail arms powdercoated. Getting them removed Friday evening.

Finally getting to start this stage. After christmas delays etc. Start piecing the subframe back together again in the next few weeks and put her back down onto 4 wheels 😲.

Weird knowing its almost on the final stretch.

Exciting times

Only got subframe and trail arms finished this week. so rather than wait any longer on other people i took matters into my own hands. Acquired a we 25ltr compressor a few months back so brought them all back to bare metal. Etch primed them and sprayed them all in Extreme Chassis Black.. Must say i am very pleased with how they have came up.
