1998 Z3 1.9l Autocross Build

Supersprint Performance Race Muffler installed. It took about three hours start to finish. All the nuts came right off since the car has zero rust. It's super easy to change out...two bolts at the cat, three hangers. Just a lot of up and down and moving/sliding myself around to get everything in line, etc.

Love the sound. Burble---ee but not too loud, no back-firing noises....yay! Maybe a touch louder than I expected, but it's so hard to tell on Youtube. One caveat they don't tell you...ya need the connecting pipe and a Walker 31370 Exhaust Pipe Flange Gasket!

I think the Z3 I bought a few months ago has the exact same cat-back. I like the note. Wondering though if you've noticed a rattle coming from the exhaust swinging too freely left and right when going over bumps and causing the tips to smack into the bumper cover? Mine is, and I'm trying to figure out if that's to be expected or how to fix it (literally and figuratively) so that it doesn't do that.

Probably needs stiffer/new hanger donuts and some time spent adjusting the brackets. Mine took some time. I had to also tweak it after it got hot. Expect it to take some fiddling.

I actually just replaced all the hanger donuts when I had to replace the clutch. Holy crap the weird one furthest forward was a pain in the cunning linguals... It may have helped a little. Either Monday or next weekend I've gotta throw it back on the lift to lift it back up a couple inches. The original owner dropped it 4 inches, and that's just too much. While I'm under there I'll see if I can stabilize the exhaust any better.

Ready for El Dorado Hills Cars & Coffee, tomorrow, and Sears Point autocross next week. Registered for track day at Laguna Seca in Nov!

Installed the Sullivan pedal set. Really nicely made. Feels is just what I was looking for.

Found out my throttle pedal is coming apart at the lower flex joint...so new one on the way.
