Hi Chris, welcome from me near Lincoln, mostly that is, funny how certain cars can have that type of effect on kids. Hope you both enjoy it.

Tony.
Cheers Tony,
I'm sure we'll have a hoot, for some time to come. Look forward to meeting you in time.

:welcome: From me in Hertfordshire (also a black Zowner), nice to know there's some youngsters out there that appreciate the bygone shapes of real drivers cars. Picked my 18yr old granddaughter up from school recently and was swamped by a dozen of her friends saying how lucky she was getting a ride in a real COOL roadster. Great cool car the Z3 no doubt about it. Never thought of it as such but if the younger gen think so who are we to argue.
So it must be. :tumbleweed:.

Black may be hard to keep clean but worth it.

Funny that, he mentioned he could take it to school in a few years because by then he'll have past his test - I'll show him pic of yours and explain that's what a grown-up one looks like so imagine how he'd feel in that. I'll show him post as well - brilliant:)
Thanks Rha

I'm sure there was someone on the forum selling a hard top and fitting kit as separate items. From memory the price was £500 for the kit and £500 for the hard top.
Perhaps someone else remembers or did I dream it ?
I think it was a guy who bought the car with hard top but said he was only going to drive the car topless

Cheers Jack - I've located one and made guy an offer so I'll keep this in reserve.

Hi Chris, the hard top fitting kit is mine. It is a genuine BMW one, and has all the screws and the rear heated screen button as well which is rare.

Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

Welcome Chris!
Awesome story and ...with happy beginning! You shot three rabbits with one bullet: a great cabriolet, son's interest and great scenery for zedding , in Austria!
Enjoy the car, the forum and the summer!

Thanks David,
Take it this bolts between rear wing, soft top cubby, behind door pillar?

Do used kits often come on market, if so what sort of budget would you suggest?

Again, thanks for welcome.
The brackets bolt where you mention. You could pay between £400 - £500 for a fitting kit - OEM type rarely hit the market - lucky if you get one for less than £400.

Thanks Grandad, think I've got one from Manchester, supposed to collect tomorrow. He says its full, OEM in pukka condition. I've asked for photos so I can compare to those supplied by David but not had any yet. He's been keen on price but I'll walk away if in any doubt. I've also read about after market let-downs since last night so I'm only going for OEM with proper number stamp on each bracket and looking for black plastic shroud. Interestingly, I asked guy for any ident number from his parts - not had those yet either.
Might be coming back to you after tomorrow!

Any recommendations for Rag-top replacement suppliers/fitters in north west, ideally no further south than Manchester or Liverpool, anywhere north to Carlisle? Any price guides appreciated and advice about zip, welded or are glazed/heated options are welcome.
