You may well be right oh grumpy one, I can source a 3.0 complete for around £500 but then the labour would add a lot to that @Lee could you give me some sort of idea on labour costs
@Sean d when the engine on our Galaxy went the total bill was £1650. That included a replacement old engine, water pump, cam belt and pullys, coolant, oil & filter and labour. Think the labour was about £700 ish if that helps. Under the arches garage but sound mechanics.

And what's wrong with a 2.8 o_O. Do a manifold swap, simota, and a decent stainless and off you go!
If I'm going for it mate I may as well put the bigger engine in, just depends what I can find.

No Sean!! I can see my chances of ever inheriting your car slipping away slowly with each post! For sure go for the 3.0 if you are going to swap, JIM

I've been looking for a Cat'd 3.0 for a long time. They are very thin on the ground. No more plentiful than a Cat'd M really.

Apart from the recent eBay one - I'm still sad I didn't get that, a member on here bought one recently. But that's all I've seen. And I regularly trawl the salvage auctions.

I had £300 put aside for some of it but the wife nobbled it to pay off the holiday  just building it up again.
How'd she find it Sean?? My wife is always shocked when I can pull money out of the air if I need it and found the best place to hide it is right under her nose. Been nearly 45 yrs and she's never found any yet!! JIM

Its amazing Jim, if she knows I have money stashed, a need arises for it, had £120 under the mat in my daily drive at the weekend, we went away in the Z but the £120 paid for it.
