Had a full day today,
8 hours, got the o/s wheels painted (I want a new set but I'm just going to have to live with what I have for now) I did them in quite a light anthracite, fitted both the splash guards and jacking points, and finally fitted the front bumper, I love the first pic
"You need to get out" can you imagine how I feelPaint looks alright but it could do with a little tyre gel to really give it a lift!. Only kidding @Sean d, it's looking superb, looking forward to seeing it when we start getting out again. Oh how I need to get out!!!
You Shouldn't seal the paintwork with Wax or polish for at least 3 months Sean-D, the paint needs to breath naturally to harden up properly.

Its just a summer time car, I am planning on taxing and insuring it in April but I really don't think I can wait that long, especially if we get a good spell in March.
I wonder how that works with new cars then Mike? When I was in the trade if a car was built to order it would arrive straight from the factory into the dealers, pdi'd, valeted and out the door as quickly as possible so no time for the paint to settle.
I used to wait until April mate but then started taxing from March to get the odd day out. This year with road tax going out monthly I've let it run although upto now it's not moved an inch.
Car Makers do have a better paint drying process than most Sprayers, Dave/Sean, these days with modern paints they use ultraviolet light to dry the paint, but when it comes out of the spray booth the paint is still quite soft. in fact if you have calluses on your hands, that would be enough to put a mark on the surface, if you press reasonably hard. The paint and clearcoat need to harden up over time and with the help of some sunshine, before they finally cure properly. BMW used to have ultra hard paintwork when they left the factory, these days it is not as hard and there have been some comments in the motoring press about this.
Wax and the residue of some commercial polishes stop the natural drying/curing process and can cause problems later on.

That's pretty much on the button Mike, we bake at 70c and can go up to 80c, after 45 mins the panels are sevice hard and once cooled can be machine polished, however they are not hard at this point and can take a few weeks depending on how much material has been put on, this was a deciding factor in the colour that I used, I was split between Protonic blue and Sakhir orange, the latter is very transparent and would have taken at least twice the amount of base coat, Have to admit that I wasn't aware of the wax issue.
Sean If you go back to the person that supplied the paint, they will be able to advise on a product you can used on new paint to protect it. But please do not use commercial polish like Meguires or Zymol. They could lead to surface cracking and other problems

Cheers Mike, we do have a finishing polish so I'll just stick with that for now

Thanks, I can't wait to get the last bits on but they will get in the way for the final power polish, I'm hoping to get that done on Saturday, The stag is in for a full restoration including new interior,new hood and going to be changed from auto to manual,You're missing some bits from the front.

I am a slightly ahead of schedule as I wanted it finished by April, that gives me lots of tinkering time.Looking good, I reckon you will have it finished by tomorrow at the rate you are working @Sean d
