I think that is a good idea Wayne. I'm up for that.

Yeah Tony...it would give the owner and mods a somewhat predictable fund for the forum

you know if the regular members here could set up a direct debit of a couple of quid a month and let it roll
Thanks for the suggestion Wayne, the forum software supports recurring donations.

Having cash in the "bank" does allow for things to be bought in advance such as car stickers which sell slowly over a period of time. Profits from all merchandise sales are ploughed back in to the sites PayPal account - and it's items like these, calendars and mugs which have kept the account topped up. That said the account rarely has more than £75 in it at any stage...

I'll work out setting up a £2 (?) per month recurring payment as an option on the donation page.

Now this is where I disagree . I think every time you post something on here you are putting back in.personally I think folks can contribute an awful lot to this site without it being financial ,let's take our time guys ..jmo

Just as a comparison, the fishing club I used to belong to and was treasurer for had similar issues which although different I'm sure you can see the relevance. We, as a club had overheads that included grass cutting and river bank maintainance which I suggested each and every member took time out to help with. No one wanted to give up their free time to do this, so as a committee we had no option but to increase to annual subs fees to allow the club to pay an outsider to do this work. At the end of each year all we needed to do was "Break even" but to do that you still have to cover costs incurred through the year?

It would be just another button on the donations page. No one is obliged to visit that page and click any of the buttons. I really don't want to have a donations page at all :sorry:

That's fine I just don't want anyone to think that if they use the site they would be obliged to donate even older members or just because you post often.I never have but didn't mind doing so after settling in here about 6 months after joining .gives you a chance to see if it for you

The only reason I like Wayne's idea is simply because I have been on here for 15 months or so and with the best will in the world I hadn't got round to making a donation and it would be much easier, for me, to set up a DD so that I can contribute to the upkeep of the forum without having to think about it (I get preoccupied and forget things that matter) Best for me, I'm not suggesting it should be mandatory in any way. Just do as your conscience tells you.:):):):)

I believe that keeping it as a choice is the best way. We can all do our bit contributing either via the posts or once in a while donating. I feel very thankful for the help I have received via this forum both chatting, discussing and even helping out and getting helped out with my Z3. Without such help and helping a few Zeds would have been off to the big scrap yard in the sky. @GazHyde will know on a personal level, its been great fun working with and helping @Lee aka. Dr Zed and the support of @Shortie_gal and dare I say @BMBabe @David and others. Its been great, so personally I will be putting a bit in every so often.
