Zroadster.org Greatest Ever Driving Songs Album

Pah. Rolling Stones, 1976, Halle Munsterland. Not a Zimmer frame in sight. Be a bit different now, what with Keef being technically dead, just refusing to lie down.=)) And Bill on bass back then. Only just got back from a tour of Ulster (us, that is) went down the Halle but all sold out. Sad faces all round. Then we hear that they'll play twice that night. Happy faces all round. Got in for the second show, don't know where they got the energy from. Could take a guess, maybe.

Do you still play now ?

Yeah, I got into a band shortly after moving up here from Sussex. One of the guys developed an ego problem, and also tried to sing out of his range and had a penchant for needlessly changing his guitar for another after a few songs!... I walked away from that before the first gig!

Then someone told me about The Norfolk Blues Society's open Jam Nights, held twice a month. You go along, put your name down on a list along with the instrument you play, or as a vocalist, and after the house band play for a while they call people up from the list to play a couple of blues based numbers, chosen by the lead singer. Then they call others up to form another band for two numbers and so on. If there are only a small number of drummers in that night I often get two or maybe three turns, all with different band members. There is a core of fine players that attend, but it's great when newbies comes along that nobody has heard before. The backline, P.A. keyboards, drum kit and an acoustic piano are all set up. All I need to take are a pair of sticks, the other guys their Axes or Gob Irons.....It's great fun, and no loading up, setting up, tearing down the kit and getting home hungry, sometimes after One in the Morning!..... I do miss the old band though, such a buzz!

See video top of page 19 of this thread, '07 Max Ayre' That's me on the Kit!

I meant to say, try and listen to the video through headphones to hear the wonderful bass and lead guitar with more clarity.
