Zroadster.org Greatest Ever Driving Songs Album

This should be banned in the car, surely a DEFCON1 driving song. Great stuff :scorecard:

As some of you may remember, I played in a Classic Rock band in Sussex before retiring and moving up to Norfolk. Freebird was on our set list, but we were giving it a rest for a while when we played a pub gig in Haywards Heath. It was a regular gig and we had a great evening. We noticed this chap standing on his own by the bar looking quite serious and sad, but thought no more about it. We had just finished and played our encore when he came up and asked us if we could play Freebird. We said we could but were giving it a rest for a while. He said, "I would really like to hear it please." We were about to say "no, sorry," when we noticed tears in his eyes when he asked for it again. We looked at each other, nodded and said Okay. I loved the track and it was a band favourite, sometimes used as an encore, so it wasn't really a chore. We really did it justice that night, a great feeling. The guy came up to us, still with tears in his eyes, shook all our hands and said "Thank you so much," and walked out of the pub. We were standing around totally bemused when another guy came up to us and said, " Freebird was his daughter's favourite song, and that she was killed two weeks ago in a car smash..... Lynyrd Skynyrd was on the car CD player.

There was a tear in my eye for a while as we started to pack up, with non of the usual banter.

:drinks:

Bonzo.

Hazel O'Connor. Eighth day. I'm an 80's guy. Loved this track.

No driving album is complete without Highway to Hell, AC/DC, as I'd include Inna Godda Davida, just because...
