Zed ?

Well over the years I've heard the BMW stands for, a Bob Marley Wagon, Black Man's Wheels, Big Muddy Wheeler and more.

Tony.
What the heck ?!? We live our Beamers! :)

Ter info from the world wide web ...

"A BMW is referred to as a beamer because it is slang that was developed back when BMW's only made motorcycles.
However, most people don't realize that beamer is actually an incorrect term for the car, and it should instead be bimmer.
BMW got its start with motorcycles."
Mine’s still a Beamer. Sounds like sunshine and I like sunshine!

I do not like Bimmer, .............. sounds way too much like Zimmer =))=))

Tony.

Really?

Back to the use of "zed". Apparently it dates as far back as the 14th century, and the French "zede" which became "zed" in Britain. It was also common in America, before the, umm, "unpleasantries" between the colonials and the Crown...:p

Yeah.....back then his name was Zed Clampet..............Frankie

This went well off track =))=)). It was meant simply to find out how the members from different countries pronounced 'Zroadster' or 'Z3,4 etc'. You might assume that as it's an English language forum that users would pronounce Zroadster like most of the UK (zedroadster), but of course in the US they pronounce the letter 'Z' zee (zeeroadster). As Churchill noted ...' ...separated by a common language'.
Sorry @Shelly, but you can't just 'say' Z. The letter has to have a phonetic pronunciation and this is the same for all languages @Delk, which of course don't even necessarily have the same alphabet.
So the letter 'Z' is pronounced 'zed' in UK, 'zee' in USA, 'thayta' in Spain , so perhaps some of our non-english speaking members could tell us how they pronounce 'Z3' .

Oh dear, this winter has gone on far to long!!!!!

Mike

When is Spring break Frankie?

Tony.

Message from Sweden ! Z4 in Swedish is 'Seta fyra' , pronounced 'sairta feera'. Although apparently a lot of the younger Swedish use a combination of UK English and Swedish and say, 'Zed feera'.
:)

I think good Friday is the 13th. April

Tony.

...I think Good Friday is the 13th. April...

Cheers Dave, I new it was one or the other  we were talking about it looking for flights the other day.
