I don't restore bikes to make money, I do it for the enjoyment. But as I am now approaching 60, well in another 3 years! I figured a car may well be a good idea, heater, waterproof, radio lol
I fancied a MGB, or a Triumph Stag, or something similar but figured that if I actually want to drive it I needed something that would work hence the BMW lol
I didn't buy it it make money, but I do believe that unless it has a catastrophic failure, it won't cost me as much as I loose changing my normal car every couple of years.
and hell yes, I bought it for a bit of fun!

Best choice out of the 3 as more reliable and user friendly.
Trust me cliff had a Stag money pit unreliable constant fetterling.
Had to go.
Happy motoring.

Yes the Stag has the worse engine ever made, little more than a couple of Triumph 1500 engines cobbled together.
my bother had one in the day, best he wishes he still had it, there again maybe not lol

VW Beetle - fully restored to OEM recently sold here for around £30,000. And, if you can get your hands on a VW Kombi - well then you are close to an instant retirement fund...=))

Loved the idea of a beetle then I actually drove one!

Much better to look at than actually use for any amount of time (unless it’s running a 911 engine and brakes )

I felt much the same about the original Mini. Looked like a good idea - until you drove/rode in one! Aarrgh! my ears and tooth fillings!

The value of mine went up quite a lot recently, then I drove it for a bit, and it dropped.......put some more petrol in, and the value went up again.=))

I bought an Aston Martin DB2/4 MK2 in 1986 for £7500 which recently sold at auction for £253000. Only problem - it wasn't me that sold it for that money ! Dear old LJA287 (google it) went off to Austria, got done up, competed in the Mille Miglia then won a fancy concourse, and Stirling Moss confirmed he'd driven it at an historic Le Mans so, whoosh, up it went in value. Ah well, I must see if he remembers driving my Z3...........

At his age there's a serious risk that he doesn't even remember having his breakfast! o_O

Ouch....
I guess you can console yourself in the knowledge it must have cost 100k to restore and another 20k or so to get into the Mille Miglia - so you only missed out on a 100k ‘profit’ rather than a quarter million!

I was offered a Jaguar XK140 Coupé for £3,500 in the mid-eighties but it smoked like a trooper and I didn't fancy a money-pit. Coulda, shoulda... :(

Never had any, or the offer of any cars, but in the early days had some number plates that in hindsight may have been worth something if I had kept them
