@Vaughan Nope, mine is the 1.9 pre face lift with no traction control, happy days.

@Lee How hard is it to replace these mate? I don't fancy dropping the subframe anytime soon =)) I thought changing both control arms was hard enough.:whistle:

Its a big job if your doing it for the first time. You will need some serious tooling to remove them (Press/Big Puller/Burn them) My first time I spent the weekend playing around finding the best way. Either way you need to drop the subframe.

@Lee Tell me about the zed shed  After I had the corsa fall on me I've lost all confidence in going under a car, slightly worried that a mechanic will charge excessive amounts for the job. Do you do home repairs for people?

If bushes have gone there will be other symptoms, sometimes knocking or squeeking and def poor handling. They can be pigs to fit...just done mine on a Mondeo...not again...Never done them.on Z3 so cant really comment.
There is something either amiss or a hidden supercharger if you have traction issues with a 1.9 tho. Had to be brutal with mine to lose traction..

Yeah we do everything in my garage over a weekend or two. We've done over 15 zeds now as well as other cars I tinker with. Getting the beam down is a couple of hours. The hardest part of the job is the condition of the exhaust because we have to remove it, If the nuts are corroded it can be a pain!

This is a common sign the rear bushes are getting very soft. As you corner they flex making the tyres tilt and loose full contact. This disappears once those main beam bushes have bee changed.
So everyone form an orderly queue at @Lee 's Zed shed

Lee what do you do if a car, like mine, has the original one piece exhaust fitted.. cut it and rejoin it?

Two options:

1) pop into an exhaust centre and get them to renew the flange bolts. We often remove them in one piece

2) We cut the exhaust and fit a sleeve with two clamps.

Decided to run 16's for winter. Putting 205 55 16 on front and 225 50 16 on back..

Then put these back on next spring (below) They do look loads better than 16's. Didn't pay the £95 a wheel for renovating...spent £40 on bits and pieces ..did them myself. Not perfect but not bad. I,ll put 15 mm spacers on back..
