I have a 2002 Z3 Roadster originally imported into Japan and the exported to New Zealand when I purchased it.
There is a lot on forums on different sites about programming keys.
I have found the keys that come with my vehicle never need programming after a battery change or changing the batteries in the Key. It is a BMW key with Siemens electronics and has 2 x CR 2016 batteries running in series to make it work.
One key wouldn’t work so I removed the batteries and found one had 0.25v and the other 2.5v. New batteries are about 3.25v.
To my knowledge their is no alarm or immobiliser fitted in the car.
FYI
