Thank you Lee, that's what I thought hence why decided to buy it. It is definitely running on low boost, someone told me no more then 4psi. But I' doing a major service, replacing all the fluids and filters a,d then planning to get the boost controller instaled. I want to run it on about 10psi and take it on a racing track, but I'm a bit worried the engine or auto gearbox might not be able to handle it.

Very few engines these days are built with anything other than silicon type liquid gaskets, having said that, these older cars weren't manufactured to such tolerances and where a gasket was originally fitted it should be replaced with another gasket. It's best to use manufacturers own gasket too. I was taught as an apprentice to lightly smear gaskets with grease to aid in stripping parts later on, never had a problem. The main reason gaskets leak is because the mating surfaces are a) not thoroughly cleaned before reassembly or more likely b) the the nuts, bolts, etc are over tightened which deforms the gasket.
