And a potential disaster was averted, when Alejandro loosened the sump plug to drain the oil on Jim's blue 2.8 (as Jim and I were stripping off the N/S/F strut) and the head of the sump plug simply fell off after half a turn. You can see why below.
When it was previously fitted by a garage in Mansfield they must've over tightened it to the point of breaking.
The remaining part of the plug remained in the threaded hole in the sump but I removed it by using a set of Snap-on easy outs and a small spanner.
Sopers were on the ball and got a plug in stock by early afternoon and Paul Rice kindly took Jim to collect it.
The new plug was very different from the original, better?, I'm not so sure.
The new one is solid unlike the original and if tightened to excess would strip the thread in the sump. Either way job completed so Jim could drive home at the end of the day.
A busy day at the Shed today. In attendance Jjim, Brian4, Bringit96, Phil Patton (and son Ethan a good lad) and Paul Rice. Great fun, banter and butties
