What Car

I nearly bought a 61 convertible, BRG with manual gearbox in 1968 when I retutned from the Army. We'd agreed on the price, I arranged to pick it up a few days later, and the guy got a better offer from someone else and sold it. I was not very pleased...

Something similar happened to me. I bought a Ford Corsair project on eBay. The guy who was selling it was selling on behalf of someone else. I told him, because I was in Bradford and he was in London, it would take a few weeks to arrange collection, as I'd need a trailer and I'd have to borrow a car with a towbar.

So the day came to collect. I'd told the guy I was coming. We set off at 6am one Saturday morning. After a long drive we couldn't find where it was being stored, so I rang the guy who I paid. He gave me the number of his mate who owned the car so he could talk us in. I rang him.

"You're coming for the corsair? I scrapped that weeks ago"

Yeah I was livid.

Did you get your money back?

I hate that Tom, when I'm selling a car of my own, or one owned by a friend, when I give my word on a deal the deal is done. There are people out there with a very different view on this, sadly.:(

Tony.
I was always told when you give your word you stand by it, no matter what. That guy apparently felt money was worth more than his word. You are correct, it is sad...

That's downright disgusting! I would be wanting someone bleeding from every orifice in their body before I left!
